Lord Wallan speaks on Marlu
Pan Arkati Fest 5102
Recorded and edited by Morgiest Frostgiant
Iscikella nods to Wallan.
Iscikella says, "Floor is yers."
Iscikella smiles at Wallan.
Iscikella sits down.
Wallan smiles.
Wallan waves.
Wallan says, "Ladies and gentlemen, elves and otherwise. I would like to welcome you to my short lecture on Lord Marlu, and my personal beliefs regarding the Master of Destruction."
Wallan put a gargoyle headed walking stick in his spidersilk vest.
Wallan says, "Please hold your comments and questions, as there will be a panel discussion afterwards to answer your queries."
Wallan says, "Now, now, put down those pitchforks and torches, please! I'm not here to spout some rhetoric about sacrificing children or sadistic blood rites."
Wallan smirks.
Wallan shudders.
Wallan says, "If you wanted to hear about that, I'm sure there are many misguided psychopaths who would be more than happy to speak about those topics, as well as demonstrate."
Wallan smiles.
Iscikella grins at Wallan.
Wallan says, "I'd like first to relate how Marlu became part of my life. When I was a child of only 60 years or so, my father and I were on our way to town when we were set upon by a group of greater orcs. My fther was an experienced swordsman, and made short work of them. As I cowered behind the stump of a tree, the head of an orc flew from its previous setting and landed next to me."
Wallan says, "I, of course, paniced. But as the orcs head rolled over to look at me, and my eyes locked with its lifeless orbs, I felt a comfortable peace. I understood that this was right. I understood that all flesh must die, f"
Wallan coughs.
Wallan says, "for that is natures way. It was then that I heard Marlu's horrible voice, and understood that this was the One Way that I must follow."
Wallan blushes a florid shade of deep crimson.
Iscikella cocks her head.
Wallan says, "I seem to have got a bit of jerky stuck in my throat."
Taranath raises an eyebrow.
Wallan coughs.
Wallan says, "I'm here today to speak about an alternate view on Lord Marlu than what is commonly accepted. But first, let me relate a bit of Marlu's history."
lookWallan says, "It is commonly believed that Marlu is the last remaining ur-daemon from the Drake War."
Wallan says, "After His brethren were forced back to their own plane by the combined forces of the Drake and the Arkati, He stayed behind and found refuge with the Arkati on their lunar home."
Wallan paces back and forth.
Wallan asks, "Why did the Arkati, after fighting so long and hard, and losing many of their kin to the ur-daemon forces, allow Marlu to stay with them unfettered?"
Wallan says, "I believe that Lord Marlu had a change of heart regarding the ur-daemon plans for this plane."
Wallan says, "He saw that there was much to learn here in Elanthia, and sought out His former ememies to form an alliance against the ur-daemon forces."
Iscikella leans forward.
Wallan says, "The Arkati obviously saw in Him a powerful ally in both knowledge of the enemy and strength of arm."
Wallan nods.
Wallan says, "This would also explain why Koar, commonly believed to be among the last of the Drake, does not take action against Marlu's freedoms in this realm."
Taranath tugs at his beard, lost in thought.
Sylviana ponders.
Wallan says, "Because of His ur-daemon heritage, Marlu is rightfully believed to be the Lord of Destruction."
Wallan smiles.
Wallan says, "The theory regarding His ability to gain strength via summoning spells makes a great deal of sense, for anyone who has turned away from their place of birth may still gain a great deal of solace from visions of home."
Wallan says, "As summoning spells tend to cause rifts in the planes, Marlu gains strength in both spirit and body from these small glimpses of His homeland."
Wallan nods.
Iscikella rubs her chin thoughtfully.
Wallan says, "Now, let's take a moment to reflect on the word, 'destruction'."
Iscikella leans forward.
Wallan says, "Obliteration. Unmaking. Entropy. The process of making something into nothing. The devestation of what was, and the ruin of what is. "
Wallan grins.
Wallan says, "Sorry...I get giddy on this topic sometimes.."
Wallan fidgets.
Wallan asks, "This is what the word destruction tends to bring to mind. A terrible thing to think of. But tell me, what in nature, besides an elf's good looks, lasts forever?"
The dim aura fades from around Taranath.
Wallan examines his fingernails.
Wallan says, "All things must come to an end, my friends, all things. And just as Lormintra sees to our spiritual passing from this realm, so does Marlu see to our physical passing."
Wallan says, "Decay and erosion, death both brutal and peaceful, the delivery of oblivion, this is what Marlu thrives upon."
Wallan asks, "Now, before anyone asks, yes, I have died MANY times in the past, and yet, here I am to speak with you today. Why is this?"
Wallan says, "How is it that an avatar of Marlu, a Knight of the Devourer, is delivered from that which his master seeks? My friends, we are the most powerful mortal races in these lands."
Wallan raises his fist defiantly.
Morgiest asks, "Because you sought the favor of an arkati of light?"
Wallan chuckles.
Taranath chuckles.
Wallan says, "Only the Arkati are able to subdue us, and truly, if we were to rise up en masse, even the Arkati may fall before us. Nothing, and NOTHING has avoided the blades and hammers of humans, elves, giant"
Wallan coughs.
Wallan says, "Err...giant-kin, dwarves, and yes, even halflings."
Iscikella begins chuckling at Wallan.
Wallan says, "Marlu recognizes this, and sees that it is through our strength and power that oblivion is best dealt. Hence, He has no quarrel with the bargains and contracts that we make with Lorminstra."
Wallan smiles.
Wallan says, "Some of you may have noticed that I am a Master in the Order of Voln. You may wonder why Marlu is accepting of His avatars extended loyalties."
Wallan says, "Well, think on this; the undead curse not only prevents souls from passing on, but also, in some cases, prevents the decay of the physical body as well."
Wallan frowns.
Iscikella cocks her head.
Wallan says, "Aren't the undead as repelling to He who seeks the body as to She who seeks the soul? Whether by plan or circumstance, Voln serves Marlu as passionately as he does Lorminstra, in matters of undeath."
Wallan nods.
Wallan says, "In closing, let me just remind you, my friends, that we are all avatars of Marlu."
Wallan says, "Every time you swing your weapon, every time you bring fiery death upon some unfortunate creature, every time you squash a bug beneath your heel, you have done Marlu's will."
Wallan says, "The burning of the Landing, and the destruction of the forest to rebuild the town. The crush of the shovel against an untapped vein of ore, and the smelting of that ore into a weapon of destruction."
Morgiest chuckles.
Kleyn leans on Friendlly.
Wallan says, "The wars of mortals, and the deaths they bring."
Wallan smiles.
Wallan says, "Marlu's will be done."
Wallan sits down.
Wallan bows.
Morgiest asks, "Well presented Wallan. Will ye take questions now?"
Wallan says, "Forgive my long windedness, and somewhat short lecture."
Taranath raises his hand.
(Tanager stares at Wallan for a long moment before slowly applauding.)
Iscikella says, "Very interesting perspective."
Wallan asks, "Of course! Is this the time, Iscikella?"
Iscikella says, "For questions, aye."
Iscikella nods to Wallan.
Wallan grins.
Wallan nods.
(Tanager claps her hands one last time and then folds them in her lap again, still keeping a dubious eye on Wallan.)
Morgiest raises his hand.
Wallan smiles at Tanager.
Wallan nods to Morgiest.
Morgiest says, "Taranath had raised a hand first ah believe."
Taranath tugs at his beard, lost in thought.
Wallan exclaims, "Oh! My apologies!"
Wallan smiles at Taranath.
Taranath says something in guild speak.
Wallan says, "Ask away, friends."
Wallan nods.
Taranath says, "I was just wondering about something you said towards the end.."
Wallan nods.
Taranath says, "About how Voln serves Marlu by destroying undead."
Wallan smiles.
Taranath asks, "Wouldn't the undead serve Marlu far better if they were allowed to stay in existence?"
Taranath says, "They cause far more destruction that adventurers, I would think."
Wallan asks, "The same could be said for any undead servant, no matter the master, and yet, we do our best to be rid of them, correct?"
Taranath nods.
Wallan says, "This is because the undead are an abomination to anyone or thing who seeks true passing, whether the passing be of the spirit, or the body. Truly...the sentient and dominant races of Elanthia have caused FAR more destruction than any skeleton or wight."
Taranath tugs at his beard, lost in thought.
Morgiest scratches at his beard.
Wallan says, "I would be most interested to see the zombie with more death and destruction accorded to his blade than any human or halfling."
Wallan chuckles.
Wallan asks, "Was that an adequate answer?"
Taranath says, "It has happened in the past. Necromancers or Lichs with followers do that."
Wallan says, "Ah! Wait...another point..."
Wallan chuckles.
Taranath shrugs.
Wallan says, "You see...undead, apart from being a pure abomination, have no need to grow."
Wallan says, "They don't eat, they don't require dwellings, they don't advance themselves."
Wallan says, "They surely cause mayhem, but they just don't have the potential that your average adventurer has in means of true and lasting destruction."
Morgiest says, "Tell that tae the folks who fought Despana, and her minions.."
Morgiest coughs.
Taranath says, "Tell that to the victims of the Horned Cabal."
Taranath nods to Morgiest.
Wallan chuckles.
Euronymous says, "You both make cases in point."
Tanager says, "Yet... Despana is gone."
Euronymous says, "Both the Cabal and Despana are gone."
Wallan asks, "Yet, who is still here after that battle?"
Wallan chuckles.
Kadesha says, "Cabal ain gone"
Taranath says, "The Cabal is not gone."
Euronymous says, "Well, dealt with"
Euronymous holds up his hand and tilts it side to side in a so-so gesture.
Taranath says, "Temporarily."
Taranath shrugs.
Wallan says, "We, as the sentient races, have dominated EVERY threat so far made to us."
Wallan shrugs.
Wallan says, "Undead or otherwise."
Wallan nods to Stongarn.
Stongarn asks, "You said that towards the end of the great war, Marlu had a change of heart from the other ur-deamons, in your view of it atleast, the ur-deamons desired destruction on the realms, and though in a far slower process at this time, Marlu continues with that desire, what kind of change of heart did you mean?"
Wallan says, "I believe that the ur-daemons wished pure and complete oblivion, and to make ALL things come to an end."
Wallan says, "If this were to happen, then destruction, too, would come to an end. Marlu had the foresight to realize that while oblivion is beautiful, in the end, it would only eat itself. He saw no benefit in that."
Wallan says, "In my opinion, of course."
Stongarn says, "yet Marlu is believed to desire destruction on a scale that would destroy the lands"
Wallan smiles.
Wallan says, "And a beautiful thing that would be..."
Wallan says, "But..."
Stongarn nods to Wallan.
Wallan says, "What is there after complete oblivion? And wouldn't that require the passing of all he holds dear, as well? He understands that if that were to happen, then all his joys would vanish as well."
Wallan says, "It's all about temperance."
Wallan smirks.
Wallan asks, "And hey....I desire a lot of things. Would all these things be good for me?"
Wallan chuckles.
Wallan nods to Morgiest.
Morgiest asks, "Ahm mer interested in what would drive someone tae follow an Arkati such as Marlu. What do ye hope tae gain? Power? Notoriety?"
Morgiest drums his fingers thoughtfully against his chin and inhales the chocolate-scented smoke smoldering away within his pipe deeply.
Wallan blinks.
Wallan says, "I'm not sure how to answer this...what drives me to worship the most encompassing force of nature..."
Wallan frowns.
Morgiest asks, "Does the thought of destruction, jes fill some void in ye?"
Morgiest asks, "Most powerful?"
Morgiest scratches his head.
Euronymous asks, "Perhaps I could field this question?"
Euronymous says, "While you gather your thoughts, of course"
Euronymous nods to Wallan.
Morgiest says, "Please do ifin ye kin."
Wallan grins.
Wallan nods to Euronymous.
Morgiest says, "Ahm interested mer from the point of a scholar, then a liaboist tae be honest."
Euronymous says, "There is often little thought given to the terms of worshiping and following"
Euronymous says, "Often the assumption is made that we "Marluvians", as we have been dubbed, "worship" Marlu"
Euronymous says, "Follow is perhaps a better term"
Stongarn nods.
Morgiest nods to Euronymous.
Euronymous says, "Though it still suggests a lack of interaction"
Euronymous says, "Or, rather in that it does"
Euronymous says, "I speak only for myself, here"
Wallan says, "I don't think I chose to follow Marlu...just as people do not choose to follow Zelia. I just believe that Marlu holds the true key to passing, not Lorminstra and her gates."
Euronymous says, "The reason I study demons and Marlu is because, as Wallan said, he and the entities known as demons represent the ultimate manifestation of power within these realms"
Euronymous nods to Wallan.
Morgiest asks, "But, if I understand ye correctly, ye wish tae support marlu in his goals, whcih, Wallans views aside, seems tae be the complete destruction of everything on this plane of existance. You would aid your own destruction?"
Stongarn says, "what personally drives me to follow Marlu, is the desire for the destruction of life, I simply allign with him as his demeanor best suits me"
Euronymous says, "I cannot speak for Wallan, but I can say that none know Marlu's goals"
Wallan says, "Destruction is the ultimate ending. It's where all things must go, no matter who or what they pay allegiance to."
Morgiest says, "But you live? If he achieves his goal, you too would be destroyed..."
Euronymous says, "Destructive tendencies are an observable trait"
Euronymous says, "Not necessarily a goal"
Euronymous says, "They could just be a byproduct of the means"
Euronymous asks, "Are you familiar with the legend of Kai's Orb?"
Wallan grins.
Morgiest chuckles.
Morgiest says, "Aye, ah lectured on it last eve..."
Morgiest starts chortling.
Euronymous says, "Pardon my ignorance, then. Look at it from this perspective"
Euronymous says, "The old town of IceMule was levelled"
Morgiest nods to Euronymous.
Euronymous says, "But it did not seem like Marlu went there with the express purpose of destroying the town"
Euronymous says, "Rather, it was destroyed, but it seemed that he was searching for the Orb"
Morgiest says, "Nae, he did not."
Morgiest says, "He found it, and was denied it, aye... Or so the legend says."
Taranath stands up.
Taranath just went up.
Euronymous says, "I personally feel that the destruction attributed to Marlu is just something perceived by us"
Morgiest scratches at his beard.
Euronymous says, "And I think it attests to his observed demeanor of utter apathy towards mortal existence"
Morgiest asks, "You dont think he really destroyed old Icemule Trace?"
Euronymous says, "I have no reason to believe otherwise"
Euronymous says, "However"
Euronymous says, "What he may see as merely searching for an artifact"
Euronymous says, "We see as 'senseless destruction'"
Euronymous says, "A matter of relative perspective, you see."
Wallan asks, "Morgiest, have you ever lost a dagger, or a trinket of anykind?"
Morgiest says, "Interesting. Ahm nae sure how we should query ye on yer beliefs in Marlu, er in hos following. Ye seem tae deny any historical documents that exist as accurate..."
Morgiest furrows his brow.
Morgiest drums his fingers thoughtfully against his chin and inhales the chocolate-scented smoke smoldering away within his pipe deeply.
Wallan asks, "When you were looking for it, did you take great cares to avoid damaging a spiderweb, or an anthill?"
Wallan shrugs.
Morgiest says, "Hrm."
Morgiest says, "I understand yer point Wallan...."
Wallan nods.
Morgiest says, "Nae, ahm nae very careful with some things in nature nae."
Morgiest asks, "Do ye mean that makes me a servant a marlu?"
Morgiest raises an eyebrow in Wallan's direction.
Wallan grins.
Wallan says, "In every act of destruction, we do Marlu's will."
Morgiest chuckles.
Iscikella chuckles.
Kadesha says, "How convenient"
Kadesha stares off into space.
Wallan says, "Every goblin, every rolton, every beetle."
Euronymous says, "That brings me to my actual questions, Wallan, if I may, and if Morgiest is finished"
Morgiest asks, "So, every time ye slay an undead, ye serve the light then?"
Morgiest nods to Euronymous.
Morgiest says, "I yield,ah hae taken up nuff time fer now."
Wallan says, "Not particularly...it's just a by-product of reintroducing destruction to that which should have passed long ago."
Morgiest says, "Ye seem tae make distinctions, when they serve yer purpose, that otherwise would nae seem tae follow yer logic Wallan..."
Wallan chuckles.
Wallan asks, "So says all the opposing viewpoints, no?"
Morgiest shrugs.
Morgiest says, "Ah do nae deny Kai teachings."
Morgiest chuckles.
Wallan says, "You may not PARTICULARLY serve Marlu, but you do. I don't CHOOSE to serve the light when I crush the undead, but I do."
Wallan shrugs.
Wallan asks, "I think Euronymous had a question?"
Morgiest says, "Point taken, but I believe Euronymous had a query."
Tanager says, "I wait my turn, of course."
Wallan grins.
Tanager turns to face Euronymous.
Euronymous says, "This is not meant as a personal attack, but rather to further knowledge and opinion as is the point of discussions"
Euronymous says, "So if I seem stand offish, I apologize"
Euronymous says, "You seem to make a few assumptions about Marlu"
Tanager smiles at Jacinto.
Euronymous says, "which, of course, many of us must"
Wallan nods.
Jacinto grins.
Euronymous says, "As there exist few official records of his perceived actions"
Euronymous says, "However"
Euronymous says, "You seem very convinced both in Marlu's Ur origin"
Euronymous says, "And in his will"
Euronymous says, "Here is what I am curious about"
Euronymous says, "If Marlu's will and legacy is indeed destruction"
Euronymous says, "Entropy is a natural phenomenon, a result of chaos in our realsm of existence"
Jacinto nods to Euronymous.
Euronymous says, "Were Marlu not present in our little alcove from the valences"
Euronymous says, "I do believe that death and destruction would continue"
Kadesha nods.
Euronymous asks, "Would this not then make him an artificer of natural perversions?"
Euronymous asks, "If his will and legacy were indeed destruction?"
Jacinto says, "Yet..."
Jacinto says, "If this is already present.."
Jacinto asks, "Is he here because of it?"
Jacinto asks, "Or a representative of something else?"
Euronymous says, "That is also what I was going to ask"
Jacinto says, "If it would continue without his presence."
Euronymous asks, "Do you think that the coming of the Ur was the beginning of entropy as we know it?"
Euronymous cocks his head at Wallan.
Wallan says, "As I said, it is commonly believed that Marlu is an ur-daemon, and his appearance and demeanor seem to suggest that. I am not wholly convinced of his origins, but that seems to be moot. I don't follow what his heritage is, rather I follow his views...that's first."
Wallan says, "Let me answer the rest in this statement;..."
Wallan says, "I don't believe for a second that if Charl disappeared tomorrow, that the seas and oceans would vanish with him. If Zelia vanished without a trace, there would still be madmen."
Euronymous asks, "And if they had never been present in the first place?"
Wallan says, "Marlu is not destruction itself...He is the Lord of Destruction...just as I am Lord of my home."
Morgiest says, "Some would say of course, that if that did happen, another arkati would simply take thier place....."
Wallan asks, "My home is there, the land it sits upon is there, whether I exist or not. However, I have claimed it as my own, and who would dispute my ownership?"
Wallan shrugs.
Euronymous nods.
Wallan asks, "I'm not sure if that answers you?"
Wallan peers quizzically at Euronymous.
Euronymous says, "It does."
Euronymous says, "I have only one more question."
Wallan nods to Euronymous.
Euronymous asks, "What are your thoughts on Marlu's having been observed searching through ancient ruins?"
Morgiest says, "I dont think its possible for them to have never been there in the first place Euronymous. At least, if they were never there, then we would never be here...."
Wallan rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Euronymous asks, "And of his gaining power from the summoning of demons, as in relations of the creatures to him?"
Euronymous says, "I did hear you when you spoke of him gaining fleeting glimpses of a home"
Wallan nods.
Euronymous asks, "But what are your thoughts on the actual act of "opening the veils", so to speak, and how they would empower him, if at all?"
Wallan says, "You did hear that...good. Ancient ruins, where battles have been fought before humans stood on two legs, may hold mysteries and artifacts that we have no possible understanding of. Why wouldn't Marlu have interest in what might possibly hold some ancient reminder of home?of "
Wallan coughs.
Wallan says, "I believe, like I had mentioned, that even Arkati may become homesick. Seeing home can renew one's spiritual strength, and in turn, their physical strength."
Euronymous asks, "Why is it, then, that you seem so convinced of his thriving on the destruction within our realms?"
Wallan grins.
Euronymous asks, "If he is so homesick indeed, and caught glimpses of home through demonic summoning, and searching for such artifacts, why would he be so loathe to remain here, where there is much destruction, and learning, as you mentioned?"
Iscikella cocks her head.
Wallan asks, "My wife thrives on booze. She's a bard, she's like that. My friend Ashemu is the same way. Halflings thrive on tarts, or so it seems. Dwarves have gems, humans have breeding. What's wrong with Marlu having destruction?"
Wallan laughs!
Kadesha says, "gem? we have ale"
Iscikella flashes a wide grin.
Wallan asks, "If you turned traitor against your people, would you be so quick to run home?"
Wallan chuckles.
Stongarn says, "I believe that Marlu saw more potential for destruction here than with his defeated race, and that is why he remains"
Euronymous asks, "Well, I am not the model Faendryl, but that is beside the point. Do you really think the entities beyond the valences are prone to such petty ideas as loyalties and betrayal?"
Wallan blinks.
Morgiest says, "hrm, well, I can at least say that this dialoge has been very insightful into the thinkin of Marlu's followers at the least. Perhaps a touch confusing as well. But insightful in any case."
Wallan says, "Of course."
Iscikella just tickled Morgiest.
Euronymous rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Kadesha raises her hand.
Wallan says, "Through Voln's order, we can gain certain abilities.."
Stongarn asks, "the artkati are so prone to such ideas, and if Koar is truely a drake, than so is he, why not the ur-deamons?"
Stongarn peers quizzically at Euronymous.
Morgiest says, "Hopefully the grandmaster will recitify that discrepancy at some point in the near future..."
Morgiest struggles to get up but fails in the attempt.
Euronymous says, "Yes, but the lesser spirit Voln, as well as the most powerful Arkati, are all within these realms, and have been for a great while"
Wallan says, "These abilities are granted through our 'loyalties' to certain Arkati."
Wallan says, "But, if we leave the Order of Voln, these abilities will vanish."
Wallan blinks.
Wallan shrugs.
Euronymous says, "And I do not think we can compare the ideas of Drakes and Ur-Daemons with any hope of resolving queries."
Stongarn says, "i am simply saying if a race as powerful as them were, that ur-deamons would be likely to be also"
Kadesha raises her hand.
Wallan says, "I believe Tanager was next..."
(Tanager inclines her head gracefully to Wallan.)
Wallan smiles at Tanager.
Tanager says, "You have spoken at length of the destructive tendencies of the Demon God."
Tanager says, "Yet there is one place that exists where even He has no hold..."
Wallan nods.
Tanager says, "Do you consider the Demon God to be allied with the Empress Beyond the Gates? It seems He ushers the world into Her care."
Wallan rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Wallan furrows his brow.
Wallan says, "I can't rightly say if there is an 'alliance', as we might understand it, but it certainly seems that their respective desires do not counteract each other, yes."
Kerani just left.
Tanager says, "Just my luck that Jacinto wanders off before I ask about his service..."
Tanager chuckles.
Tanager looks thoughtfully at Wallan.
Wallan chuckles.
Tanager nods.
Morgiest raises his hand.
Wallan says, "I haven't been invited to too many Arkati parties lately, so I'm not sure who has their hand in whose pocket.."
Wallan winks at Tanager.
Stongarn asks, "who's to say he has no hold there, do you know of many that have returned from there to say so?"
Tanager places her hand on a dark silver brush-inscribed ring.
Tanager says, "Thank you."
Tanager nods to Wallan.
Wallan grins.
Wallan nods.
Wallan asks, "Kadesha?"
Sylviana smiles.
Kadesha says, "a bit of a change and sorry I was late"
Wallan grins.
Kadesha says, "am curious however as to the Marlu followers bias concerning the plans of the Dark Alliance"
(Jacinto gets a curious look.)
Jacinto stares at Wallan.
Jacinto asks, "Could we speak privately, at some point?"
Wallan says, "I can only speak for myself on this point, but here goes..."
Wallan nods to Jacinto.
Euronymous nods to Jacinto.
Wallan says, "The three chaps leading this alliance are indeed doing all they can to make our lives interesting. Destruction naturally follows. However, as I had expressed in my lecture, we elves and giants, humans, dwarves, and halflings are the most powerful mortals in this realm, as we have proven time and time again..."
(Tanager inquires softly, "Three?")
Tanager cocks her head at Wallan.
Kadesha says, "that'd be four chaps but"
Wallan coughs.
Wallan says, "My finger got lost...the fourth one.."
Iscikella begins chuckling at Wallan.
Wallan says, "However..."
Wallan asks, "Why wouldn't we relish in the destruction while we can, both dealing it out to those who oppose us, as well as receiving it whenever possible?"
Wallan says, "When the Landing burned, Marlu smiled. When we cut down the forest to rebuild, Marlu smiled."
Kadesha asks, "so then I would guess yad support the Alliance goals?"
Stongarn nods.
Wallan says, "Maybe not their ultimate goals, if what they holler at us be taken to heart, but the means....wow...the means are just beautiful."
Wallan rubs his eyes.
Wallan sniffs.
Wallan says, "Just beautiful."
Stongarn says, "not quite, as a Marlu follower myself, I support both sides in a way, each causing destruction, each being destroyed, both sides feed Marlu's desire"
Bonespirit slings a diamond encrusted shield over his shoulder.
Morgiest raises his hand.
Wallan nods to Morgiest.
Iscikella recites:
"This will be the last question before I close off the panel, folks."
Iscikella smiles.
Kadesha asks, "sokay then I destroy alliance supporters?"
Kadesha winks and flashes a sly grin.
Wallan laughs!
Wallan exclaims, "By all means!"
Wallan beams happily at Kadesha!
Iscikella begins chuckling at Wallan.
Kadesha says, "well Lorminstra is merciful so I restrain such urges"
Kadesha chuckles.
Morgiest asks, "Wallan, Euronymous, on what basis do ye both seem tae deny virtually every historical doccument that exists about marlu?"
Tanager cocks her head at Morgiest.
Wallan says, "Doesn't matter who gets destroyed...just so long as it happens. I believe that our strength of will and desire to destroy will see us through to the end."
Kadesha asks, "Ye don't mind when its you who gets destroyed?"
Kadesha looks rather confused.
Tanager says, "There's a difference between dying and being destroyed...."
Wallan says, "What basis? Well...first let me say that the historical documents regarding Marlu are few and far between, mostly legends rather than accepted facts, such as we might find about other Arkati.."
Morgiest nods to Wallan.
Kerani just arrived.
Morgiest says, "Aye, they are sparse indeed, but you even seem to deny those..."
Jacinto asks, "On what counts, guildmaster, sir?"
Wallan says, "Everyone translates religious texts in ways that they can understand, or that feels right to them. When I received Marlu's blessings, these beliefs are what drove me to become his avatar. And...as of yet...I seem to have pleased the Lord of Destruction."
Morgiest asks, "Why do i say they deny them?"
Euronymous says, "I agree with Wallan, and would like to add that the 'historical' documents we take as facts were likely written by Elven scribes and historians and not by Marlu himself"
Jacinto says, "Aye...I'm curious at specifics."
Tanager laughs!
Wallan grins.
Euronymous says, "As such, they are little more that relative observations"
Euronymous says, "And very biased"
Tanager says, "I think there are very, very few Arkati likely to take up the pen and educate mere mortals on Their natures."
Morgiest says, "Euronymous seems to deny that it was Marlu that destroyed old Icemule trace... Wallan seems to deny the albiet short, and sparse, information that is located in the elven libraries.."
Tanager says, "And it's even harder to do with a tentacle instead of a hand... no disrespect intended."
Jacinto grins.
Iscikella begins chuckling at Tanager.
Wallan says, "Please remember that history is written by He who has the most ink, and the most desire to sway the masses."
Euronymous says, "No no, I did not deny that He destroyed the town. I merely said that what we view as destruction may not have anything to do with his means of attaining his goals."
Morgiest asks, "I was askin on what basis you deny this as being true... In other words, what sort of devine insight has been givin to you, for you to cast out those histories, and replace them with your own?"
Stongarn says, "I believe Euronymous was simply saying that destruction was not the true intent, he was simply seeking something, destruction as he put it was the by-product"
Morgiest shrugs.
Euronymous nods to Stongarn.
Euronymous says, "It is not divine insight, Morgiest. As followers of forces we do not and cannot ever understand on our own limited terms, we speculate as much as others."
Morgiest says, "My apologies then Euronymous, I did indeed missunderstand ye, and withdraw my query ah directed at ye."
Iscikella recites:
"On that note, folks, I will have to bring the panel to a close this eve. I would like to give thanks to Wallan for sharing his views tonight. So let's give him a round of applause."
