Ronan lecture by Ilvane and Arimantis
Pan Arkati Fest 5102
Recorded and edited by Morgiest Frostgiant
Iscikella recites:
"Allright folks, sorry for the delay."
Ilvane says, "Well, that is settled."
Iscikella recites:
"Ilvane will be speaking on Ronan. And Tierus will add in a few personal comments afterwards."
Iscikella smiles.
Ilvane mutters something about crazy.
Iscikella recites:
"Remember, keep fidgeting to a minimum."
Iscikella recites:
"No spell-casting."
Ilvane grins.
Iscikella recites:
"And wait for the floor to be open to discussion by the speakers before questioning or commenting."
Iscikella smiles.
Iscikella nods to Ilvane.
(Tierus bows slightly to Ilvane, barely more than a nod of his head. He turns away from Ronan's altar with a slight chuckle, then takes a seat in the back of the room.)
Tierus sits down.
Iscikella recites:
"Ilvane is the speaker."
Ilvane says, "Hi everyone, my name is Lady Ilvane Fiastash, I'm a devotee and dreamer of Ronan. Ilvane says, "I apologize for his absence, I'd be glad to tell you a bit on a wing of who Ronan is, and what he means to me personally as well."
Ilvane says, "If you look over on the south wall, that is Ronan."
Ilvane grins.
Ilvane points at the south wall.
Ilvane says, "He is the Lord of sleep and dreams, and the one who protects that realm from the dangers that Sheru brings."
Ilvane says, "As you can see tonight, many people in this realm have come to get to know him as a wonderful god."
Ilvane nods.
Ilvane fidgets.
Ilvane says, "I am not much of a speaker, you'll have to forgive me, I have a big mouth, but I'm not much of a lecturer."
Ilvane says, "More of a scholar."
Ilvane blushes a florid shade of deep crimson.
Ilvane clears her throat.
Ilvane says, "Anyway.."
Ilvane clears her throat.
Ilvane says, "He is the twin of Phoen, and his mother is the lovely Lumnis."
Ilvane grins.
Ilvane says, "I can say in my time of worshipping him, I have seen many things happen in his service."
Laleena smiles.
Ilvane says, "For one, the darkness of Sheru does not often compare well with Ronan's grace and he often is able to stop the pain brought by Sheru's flock."
Ilvane says, "Some may disagree, but he has forgiven many people who I would ne'er had taken another look at again."
Ilvane grins.
Ilvane says, "Even people who have turned from his service."
Ilvane says, "Mostly, what his service means to me, is personal."
Ilvane says, "As a child, and as an adult he has been a true lord of strength."
Ilvane nods.
Ilvane asks, "Kabriel, you are also of Ronan, right?"
Kabriel smiles at Ilvane.
Kabriel nods to Ilvane.
Ilvane asks, "Could you add some of your knowledge of him as well, for others to hear?"
Kabriel smiles at Ilvane.
Kabriel bows to Ilvane.
Kabriel says, "Would be a pleasure"
Ilvane asks, "So I don't have to stand here blushing so much?"
Ilvane shuffles her feet.
Kabriel stands up.
Kabriel grins at Ilvane.
Ilvane says, "Please."
(Kabriel chuckles softly and walks up next to Ilvane.)
Kabriel nods to Ilvane.
Ilvane smiles at Kabriel.
Iscikella smiles at Kabriel.
Kabriel says, "Alright..."
Kabriel coughs.
Ilvane giggles.
Kabriel says, "Ye covered many aspects of Ronan."
Ilvane exclaims, "Don't tell me you have the same trouble!"
Kabriel winks.
Ilvane blushes a florid shade of deep crimson.
Kabriel says, "nae nae...my friends know I am the long winded sort. Love giving speeches."
Ilvane nods to Kabriel.
Iscikella smiles at Kabriel.
Kabriel says, "Ye mentioned Ronan's ties to the other gods."
Ilvane nods to Kabriel.
Ilvane says, "Also Luukos, of course."
Ilvane winks.
Kabriel says, "Ronan is also Lorministra's brother. As such they do work in many ways close to each other."
Kabriel nods to Ilvane.
Kadesha beams happily at Kabriel!
Kabriel says, "Ronan has the tendency to keep those who encroach on his domain out. Particularly Sheru and Luukos who often times trespass on his balliwick."
Ilvane nods.
Kabriel says, "The ancient name which I have heard whispered by elves for Ronan is Reann. Perhaps this is back when he wandered the Elanthian surface."
Kabriel says, "Ronan is also Phoen's twin. The two being night and day can never be in the same spot at the same time. That is not to say they dislike each other, simply that they represent two different things."
Ilvane smiles.
Kabriel says, "Of course if'n ye didn't know, Ronan's symbol is a silver sword on a field of black."
Ilvane smiles.
Kabriel says, "Many depictions of Ronan have him carrying the sword."
Kabriel rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Ilvane smiles at Kabriel.
Kabriel says, "Otherwise, I'd say the only other things I know is that he shares a rather sardonic sense of humor."
Kabriel grins.
Kabriel says, "Matching that of Jastev."
Kabriel says, "The rest...well we can speak on it during the panel."
Kabriel smiles.
Ilvane says, "I actually could tell a story, here.."
Ilvane says, "It is a bit personal again..and many of my friends have heard it.."
Ilvane says, "But it does speak to Ronan's active way of being here for his followers."
Ilvane says, "I told some last night of the way I was marked."
Ilvane says, "He actually was here, and I do know that I felt his touch. The proof was in the comet on my neck."
Ilvane says, "I used to have a star here on my neck."
(Ilvane points to her comet)
Ilvane says, "One night it began twinkling, and Arimantis saw it."
Ilvane says, "I only saw a little blink in my eye..but we were just getting ready to go to sleep."
Ilvane giggles.
Ilvane shuffles her feet.
Kabriel grins at Ilvane.
Ilvane says, "So, we came here, and I said a small prayer."
Ilvane says, "Suddenly the wall began twinkling, and comets appeared on the wall."
Ilvane says, "Right where his face is over there."
Ilvane points at the south wall.
Ilvane says, "It was the most incredible feeling, since I was a little girl I had always loved Ronan, and worshipped him."
Ilvane says, "Even the Luukosian that was there bugging me about my choices.."
Ilvane says, "She was magically moved down to Luukos' altar."
Ilvane grins.
Ilvane whistles tunelessly to herself.
Iscikella smiles.
Aranrhod says, "I was there also..."
Ilvane says, "Then I felt really warm.."
Ilvane says, "And my mark appeared."
Aranrhod says, "I remember"
Ilvane nods to Aranrhod.
Ilvane says, "It was amazing."
Ilvane traces the lines of her comet tattoo.
Ilvane says, "I can describe it for you.."
Ilvane rubs her chin thoughtfully.
Ilvane says, "The tiny comet is outlined with a deep, midnight blue line, and small specks trail off the end of it like a tail. Inked in the center is a stylized silver eye."
Belthania says, "is it discussion time now cause yer tattoo has nothing to do with what Ronan is"
Belthania says, "this isnt personal time this is learn about Ronan"
Ilvane says, "It is a personal story of Ronan's touch."
Ilvane says, "It most certainly is, and when you wish to discuss, we will allow you as well."
Ilvane nods to Belthania.
Xanith says, "Eh, personal stories have a lot to do with how we interact with the Arkati."
Ilvane says, "It most certainly does."
Ilvane grins at Xanith.
Belthania says, "what does your tattoo have to do with what ronan is"
Kabriel asks, "Belthania...I am nae part of the head party of the festival, but please refrain from speaking out of turn like that?"
Ilvane says, "It shows that he is active, and loves his followers.."
Aranrhod says, "She stepped in for a speaker that could not make it...I think she is doing good on short notice"
Iscikella recites:
"Folks, please keep polite."
Kabriel says, "here here."
Kadesha says, "how about since she was kind enough to step up to speak when the schedueled speaker went missing ya show some courtesy"
Aranrhod says, "And save judgement for another place than here...please...is unbecoming"
Ilvane says, "No I didn't get it made by a tattoist."
Kabriel says, "Shhhh..."
Ilvane grins.
Kabriel says, "Alright...everyone calm down please...let the lady finish."
Aranrhod says, "Sorry Ilvane"
Ilvane says, "It changed from a star to a comet, from him, not from a lord or lady."
Ilvane nods to Belthania.
Ilvane says, "So say what you wish it is important to what Ronan is, for everyone."
Iscikella recites:
"I also believe our scheduled speaker will be here shortly, so keep tempers in check please."
Ilvane says, "My husband will be here for his lecture, so I will be quiet."
Ilvane says, "It's hard enough to speak when you don't know you are speaking."
Ilvane blushes a florid shade of deep crimson.
Xanith says, "My weddin was held in Ronan's Shrine jest outside the Landin. Nae sure if it's still there, but it is a very beautiful place if ye have never seen it."
Ilvane says, "I'm sorry for not being waht you expected."
Kadesha says, "anyway Belthania, Ronan manifested in signs on the wall and touched her star tattoo and himself made it what it is now, so was a personal touch by Ronan, notta merchant, and thus relevant"
Morgiest asks, "Lord Tierus, ahm somethin of a scholar, ah would be interested in hearin yer story of Ronan, it would make fer an interestin viewpoint, and ifin ye nae given the chance tae speak here, might ye converse with me at some other time perhaps?"
Kabriel says, "Tis still there."
Kabriel nods to Xanith.
Kabriel says, "Tis as beautiful as it was on yer day, I'm sure."
Kabriel winks at Xanith.
Ilvane asks, "We have storytelling tonight again?"
Xanith says, "Eh, great. I should have to go visit it again sometime. It's a beautiful place."
Ilvane peers quizzically at Iscikella.
Iscikella nods to Ilvane.
Ilvane says, "Maybe then."
Ilvane grins at Tierus.
Arimantis just arrived.
Ilvane beams happily at Arimantis!
Iscikella exclaims, "And here is out speaker!"
Arimantis grumbles.
Ilvane says, "Fashionably late, but what can we say."
Arimantis waves.
Aranrhod snickers.
Iscikella says, "Arimantis, get on up there and talk."
Arimantis coughs.
Iscikella says, "Ye made everyone testy."
Kabriel says, "Leave it to a Ronanite to oversleep."
Morgiest says, "Almost started a riot here..."
Arimantis says, "Sorry fer the techincal difficulties.."
Ilvane begins chuckling at Kabriel.
Iscikella begins chuckling at Arimantis.
Morgiest gives Arimantis a little prod between the shoulder blades.
Sabitor says, "The crowd is getting restless."
Kabriel stares off into space.
Arimantis grumbles.
Sabitor hums distractedly to himself.
Kabriel smiles.
Ilvane smiles at Thaleles.
Ilvane nods.
Arimantis says, "Ok.."
Arimantis fidgets.
Arimantis stares off into space.
Iscikella smiles at Arimantis.
Aranrhod says, "You were eating cookies"
Aranrhod nods to Arimantis.
Aranrhod says, "I can tell"
Aranrhod nods.
Aranrhod sniffs at Arimantis.
Aranrhod nods.
Arimantis grumbles.
Kabriel says, "Shh."
Arimantis says, "I was.. throwing my portal against a wall, actually"
Arimantis coughs.
Arimantis says, "Now then.."
(Arimantis leans back, casting a glance over the crowd)
Ilvane says, "Big one."
Ilvane fidgets.
Ilvane clasps Arimantis's hand tenderly.
Arimantis says, "From the looks of things, we have quite the varied crowd tonight"
Arimantis says, "I m gonna ask that we try an keep all the arguin fer the discussion afterwards"
Ilvane says, "And insults."
Ilvane nods.
Arimantis smiles , just a bit sarcasticly, as his gaze falls directly on you
Ilvane grins at Arimantis.
Ilvane says, "Stay awake now."
Morgiest asks, "Oh great, the old geezer done gone and nodded off now?"
Morgiest squints at Arimantis.
Arimantis removes a bottle of strong sacred wine from in his rune-covered bag.
Ilvane pokes Arimantis in the ribs.
(Arimantis takes a long swig of wine )
Arimantis says, "pinc mor"
Morgiest grins at Arimantis.
Arimantis stares off into space.
Ilvane gazes in wonder at her surroundings.
Arimantis put a bottle of strong sacred wine in his rune-covered bag.
(Iscikella snaps her fingers in front of ARimantis.)
Arimantis slowly empties his lungs.
Iscikella says, "Keep awake now."
Ilvane says, "Don't tell me you are nervous."
Ilvane stares at Arimantis.
(Arimantis jestures to the gaunt man with deep black, heavy lidded eyes and a mysterious smile depicted on the wall of the temple. )
Ilvane giggles.
Belthania says, "get on with the dellusions already"
Ilvane says, "If you can't be polite, please leave."
Ilvane nods to Belthania.
Arimantis says, "Alright then, lets get started"
Iscikella says, "Remember, discussion and comments are afterwards pelase."
Arimantis says, "Simply put, Ronan is the guardian of the night an all it enfolds. "
(Kadesha loosens up her wagglin fingers)
(Arimantis jestures to the gaunt man with deep black, heavy lidded eyes and a mysterious smile depicted on the wall of the temple. )
Arimantis says, "It seems fittin that his altar should lay here, along side that of his mother Lumnis. "
Arimantis says, "Fer while it is her task ta maintain balance.. it is his task ta manintain order in the hours of darkness. "
(Arimantis gestures to the two altars before you. )
Arimantis says, "This bein the case, it is he who most often encounters the Dark Gods who try ta use the cloak of darkness as a shield. "
Arimantis says, "He finds them trespassin in his realm on a regular basis. "
Arimantis says, "Because it is his realm that Lornon infringes on most, he is closely allied with his sister Lorminstra in fightin back the undead hoards. "
Arimantis says, "He also shares a close bond with Jastev, fer they share the same dry sense of humor that results from actually knowin what lies in the subconcious thoughts of man. A sort of humor that sometimes escapes the more jovial of the Liabo arkati. "
Arimantis says, "His manor is filled with a balance of carin and irony, the will ta protect combined with a healthy dose of sarcasm. "
Ilvane grins.
Arimantis says, "Which.. lends explanation to why dreams often don make sense until closely examined."
Arimantis says, "It is his close association with Jastev that may also explain the dreams of prophecy that many have been known to experience. "
Ilvane smiles slightly.
Arimantis says, "When it comes ta prophetic dreams, or dreams of warnin.. there is a fine line between warnin an fear. Many times, these dreams are mistaken as nightmares sent by Sheru an shunned when infact they were sent to guide. "
Arimantis says, "Course, Sheru enjoys the fear an hasn t been known ta deny credit.. but often it is credit he don deserve. "
Arimantis says, "Take for instance.. a dream of one s family being in danger. A fire mayhaps, or an invasion. Ya wake up with a feelin of fear and assume Sheru has been up to no good. But more often than not, this was a warnin that danger may be on it s way. "
Ilvane frowns.
Ilvane closes her eyes for a moment.
Arimantis slowly empties his lungs.
Arimantis says, "This brings me to Ronan s greatest battle, his battle with Sheru. "
Iscikella smiles at Arimantis.
Arimantis says, "As the rightful master of the night, Ronan is in constant conflict with the jackal who trespasses into the realm of dreams. "
Arimantis says, "Sheru seems to think that he has the right to wander the night spreadin fear, nighmare an insanity where ever he pleases. "
Arimantis says, "If not fer Ronan s constant vigil to keep the hours of darkness free from the forces of Sheru an the others, the night would be overrun by terror. "
Arimantis says, "In most cases, Ronan choses to show himself not in body.. but in a more symbolic sense, such as is his nature"
Arimantis says, "Although, he can be spotted from time to time riding through the night on his unicorn steed searching the darkness for evil.. "
Arimantis says, "Most times.. it is a shooting star, or a comet in the night sky that heralds his presnece"
Arimantis says, "It seems, he does not feel the need to use force or might.. but just a simple reminder that he watches"
Arimantis says, "I have seen him but once.. in the shadows of this very room."
Ilvane smiles at Arimantis.
Kabriel traces the lines of his symbol of Ronan.
Arimantis says, "While his stars and dreams appear nightly.. this night he chose to appear in person."
Mistytwilight smiles.
Arimantis says, "And.. it was that night that my feelings of faith in his compasion were confirmed."
Danay smiles at Arimantis.
Arimantis says, "I know he watches always.. and this night it seems he had had enough of the jackals games"
Arimantis smiles slightly and says 'Ran the mangy mutt right out, he did'
Arimantis says, "In any case, he saw fit to come to the aid of one in need"
Arimantis says, "Not to force himself.. but simply to confirm that he watches, and he cares"
Arimantis says, "Those of the darkness say that Liabo doesn't watch over their followers, because they are seldom seen"
Arimantis says, "Though.. those that night, saw the truth. That Liabo does watch, they simply trust their followers to have faith and follow the path of light"
Arimantis asks, "Now then.. who gonna argue with me..?"
Naessi says, "Arimantis, I would appreciate a slight clarification."
Arimantis chuckles.
Arimantis says, "Shoot"
Dantrotic says, "I still maintain that several Arkati were killed by the Vvreal."
Naessi says, "You say those of the Darkness say that Liabo watches not over their followers. I am of the Darkness and have never said that.... it would be nice to see us NOT all lumped into a group off what you may have heard someone say, once."
Belthania says, "hmm"
Dantrotic looks over at Sabitor and shakes his head.
Ilvane says, "It is true, not everyone says that."
Arimantis says, "Alright.. let me phrase that to.. those of the darkness that like to argue with me"
Dantrotic says, "I firmly believe several Arkati were slain by the Vvreal, as is evident by their complete desertion of their followers since the Vvreal war."
Naessi says, "Thank you for the concession, Ilvane."
Belthania says, "I doubt there is need for arguement "
Dantrotic says, "A handful of Arkati have been incommunicato for aproaching several years now."
Dantrotic shrugs.
Ilvane says, "I agree with what you say."
Ilvane grins at Naessi.
Belthania says, "what good is it to argue with a closed minded person"
Arimantis says, "Aye.. I believe there were many killed in the war"
Arimantis nods to Dantrotic.
Danay says, "Eh, not with the Vvrael."
Kadesha says, "no Arkati died to the Vvrael"
Dantrotic says, "Prove it."
Dantrotic nods to Kadesha.
Arimantis says, "Bah.."
Dantrotic says, "you can't. you lose."
Arimantis says, "Other war"
Grandevr says, "I'll venture that most Liabo Arkati are quite helpful to thier followers, as opposed to their Lornon counterparts... like the one time Ronan drew me away from that infidel Sheru's shrine and restore me to life"
Arimantis stares off into space.
Sabitor says, "You can't either."
Sabitor nods to Dantrotic.
Sabitor chuckles.
Zodier says, "He gave pretty good proof though."
Ilvane says, "Someone closed minded is one who refuses to see any other way but thiers."
Zodier nods to Sabitor.
Ilvane winks at Belthania.
The air about Naessi stops shimmering.
Calloran just kissed Mistytwilight on the hand.
Dantrotic says, "The burden of proof is not on me, and I gave credible evidence."
Zodier says, "Evidence, yes, not proof."
Zodier babbles something unintelligible.
Danay says, "What evidence? You said none have been heard from."
Belthania says, "funny you should say that "
Kabriel asks, "Arimantis...not a lot is known about Ronan historically simply because of the nature of his sphere of influence...but do we know the actual name of his sword?"
Kabriel peers quizzically at Arimantis.
Belthania smiles at Ilvane.
Arimantis asks, "Was the same night I speak of.. I believe. No?"
Naessi says, "Grandevr, dear, you really need to speak with a few assasins who have the favor of Onar, and you will then discover how helpful Lornon can be."
Arimantis smiles at Grandevr.
Kadesha says, "only credible evidence ye ever gave dantrotic is that you are credibly an idiot"
Belthania says, "I used to worship Ronan my friend"
Grandevr says, "I think it may have been"
Grandevr nods to Arimantis.
Zodier says, "And you are the cleric that never hunts."
Zodier nods to Kadesha.
Zodier touches one finger to his lips.
Naessi says, "Now, Kadesha, be nice."
Kabriel says, "Always wondered if it had a name like Kai's Soulingen or such."
Ilvane says, "Lets not resort to tossin insults."
Morgiest says, "Ah had a question fer the Lord priest...."
Ilvane says, "A nice discussion is always nice."
Dantrotic says, "I think I've had far more contact with Arkati than you."
Naessi says, "It wouldn't look good for you to lose your cool when us evil ones are maitaining ours."
Naessi smiles sweetly.
Belthania says, "nice is nice hmmm"
Arimantis says, "Gettin killed by bolts from Lorminstra don count"
Kadesha asks, "the discussion is supposed to be about Ronan, yes?"
Arimantis asks, "Bah.. where that lil spy go?"
Sabitor asks, "Why do you follow Ronan?"
Ilvane grins.
Morgiest shrugs.
Morgiest starts chortling.
Arimantis chuckles.
Belthania says, "because a tattoo shimmered"
Belthania pokes Sabitor in the ribs.
Dantrotic's group just arrived.
Arimantis asks, "Ya really want me ta go into that long story?"
Ilvane says, "You really know nothing."
Ilvane turns away from Belthania, ignoring him.
Sabitor says, "I wouldn't mind a shortened summary."
Sabitor whistles tunelessly to himself.
Dantrotic says, "I am the only person here to have a personal audience with the Lord of Liabo Koar."
Dantrotic shrugs.
Ilvane folds her arms over her chest.
Dantrotic says, "Infact I'm one of 3 people walking the lands right now that has."
Dantrotic shrugs.
Arimantis says, "I have followed Ronan since I was a child.."
Kabriel says, "Arimantis...not a lot is known about Ronan historically simply because of the nature of his sphere of influence...but do we know the actual name of his sword? Sorry I'm repeatin myself here."
Kabriel smiles at Arimantis.
Dantrotic says, "I think that gives me a heads up."
Dantrotic says, "His eyes are MUCH bigger."
Dantrotic says, "And he is indeed a drake."
Iscikella recites:
"Folks, please keep the discussion on Ronan here."
Ilvane says, "Because he keeps us safe from nightmares, and protect us."
Arimantis says, "Other than that he uses a sword forged of black metal.. not much is know about his weapons"
Iscikella says, "Because this is the Ronan lecture and was specifically set aside for those wishing to ask questions regarding Ronan."
Arimantis says, "He is more one for fighting with his wit"
Naessi says, "I have a question for you Arimantis, when you please."
Lethor asks, "Iscikella, may a beg a boon from you?"
<<<<Editors note>>>> It was at this point that Lethor and Arathawes appeared and spoke of what is now known as the "Temple of Wyneb." This pretty much ended talk of Ronan. What little discussion occured after this degenerated into arguments about various Lornon Akrati sadly.
