When Mentor Shirkon first gave me this assignment I was so excited. Tell you about something? Research something? YAHOO! That is totally me.

Well I give you kudos Sir, (bow shirk) I have learned so much about what I thought I already knew. About me and about Onoir. The first thing I looked up on was Honor. Now you would think that is easy, To be an honorable person is not just to be honest, truthful, and fair; it is also to place a premium on these qualities and the behavior they require. Easy to remember, but as I sat there and started to read more on honor I realized that Onoir is for me. I realized being honorable is not easy by any means.

My parents, brothers and sister could never even to begin to understand why we are honorable people here in our home. The play music, sing and dance as my brothers are pick pocketing the crowd. I tried to tell them about it being wrong, untruthful and was not what I wanted to do. Finally I came to Solhaven where my Uncle taught me all about fair, truth, honesty and honor.

Well I thought he had taught me everything about it that is. Till I read so much in the library I thought the lady there was going to kick me out.

Honor to me…….. Pride about being me and my ability to help others. To be fair in what I do in life, help anyone I can and never tell an untruth. I would hate to be an untruth teller (smile). Honor in being part of a great family here, all of you never once doubted me and I have faith in all of you. I trust my family more than anyone in the world. That to me is Honor, I hope that is what you were looking for my liege. (bow shirk) OH! Must not forget the ten things to help you be honorable, I will recite them if I must, but don’t make me. (laugh)

RECITE One: Thou shalt follow the dictates of your moral conscience.



RECITE Two: Thou shalt be willing to defend thy principles - no matter the outcome.



RECITE Three: Thou shalt have respect and compassion for the weak, and steadfastness in defending them.



RECITE Four: Thou shalt love Elanthia, and observe its laws.



RECITE Five: Thou shalt refuse to retreat before the enemy, waging unceasing and merciless war against all that is evil.



RECITE Six: Thou shalt show loyalty to truth and to thy pledged word.



RECITE Seven: Thou shalt be generous and giving of thyself.



RECITE Eight: Thou shalt be champion of the right and good at all times, and at all times oppose the forces of evil.



RECITE Nine: Thou shalt train the youth in the honorable ways whenever the opportunity arises.



RECITE Ten: Thou shalt make the following terms thy life's work: Honor, Valor, Faith, Honesty, Duty, Strength, and Loyalty.



I was also told to check into Silver Gryphon’s, a warriors order, founded to guard against the threat of invasion by Jantalar. Jantalins as you know had the power to drain magic, and some of our strongest fighters were casters. Lord Maldon, the founder is a knight and a warrior. He knows the power a warrior can hold, how they were not weakened by not having magic. These warriors were chosen to guard against the threat. Maldon chose warriors .. who would seek knighthood. This was his choice, and they have continued to follow it. Silver Gryphons were formed several years ago, actually.

It's all related to the Jantalar war against Solhaven/Wehnimer's Landing. I know a little about that war, well only the part where my uncle died to save me. A knight of the Turamzzyrian Empire came to the Landing and began the order. It was designed as an organization to defend Solhaven and the Landing from Jantalar. Baron Dunrith Malwind of Solhaven actually knighted several members of various races, so that they officially bear the title of Knight of the Empire. Valicar, the head of the Northern Fury, if you're familiar with him, actually refused. Now that the whole Jantalar ordeal is over, though, the Order of the Silver Gryphon acts as an organization to defend the Landing.

As it stands, they still only allow warriors. You are not recruited nor are people allowed to ask or beg admittance. Members submit apprentices, if all members agree you are an apprentice.

Recite Largesse: Be generous in so far as your resources allow; largesse used in this way counters gluttony. It also makes the path of mercy easier to discern when a difficult decision of justice is required.

‘I have a lot of what they call Largesse I suppose. I have always gave what I could to those who were in need. I have always helped people in need or who needed help finding a place. I suppose this is what you would call Largesse. (smile shirk) I am a friend, I know the meaning of the word now that I have found Asrak and Tsule. I learn generosity every day and I share what I have learned with others. I feel great doing this, helping others makes me soar, in this I do believe is Largesse. (gaze down)

(grin shirk) This brings us to Chivalry, I was so not sure what to say about this. (FIDGET) I researched the library of Onoir and one definition that I liked of chivalry was The List Field.

Recite One, Courtesy to your opponent at all times



Recite Two, In combat if you are uncertain of a blow take it



Recite Three, Do not let anger control your actions



Recite Four, Do not let the lack of Chivalry in others cause you to be unchivalrous.



Recite Five, If your opponent is your equal practice chivalric action



Recite Six, If your opponent is your better give no quarter



Recite Seven, Remember your actions speak louder than words



‘Prowess: Because of my past I know what it is to strive for being something great. I know now how powerful I can be and how much I need to use my gifts to help others. This is how Prowess is me.

Recite Justice: Seek always the path of 'right', unencumbered by bias or personal interest. Recognize that the sword of justice can be a terrible thing, so it must be tempered by humanity and mercy. If the 'right' you see rings agrees with others, and you seek it out without bending to the temptation for expediency, then you will earn renown beyond measure.

‘Asrak told me a story of one of the Dark Alliance was captured by a lynch mob. They were going to hang him for lighting fires during Zerroths rampage, yet no one saw him do it

‘He said if I believe in innocent until proven guilty, then the just thing would be to release him. I agreed with him on this point one hundred percent..

‘As he told me of the several in Onoir who made the mob set him free at the time.

I felt a great sense of pride to be apart of Onoir. Arak said that this was justice and I so agree with that.

‘I read to practice Justice one must be consistent with what is morally right. One must strive for conformity in the practice of law based on truth, fact, and sound reason. One must practice moral law, and must have integrity in the dealings of men and women with each other.



Recite Loyalty: Be known for unwavering commitment to the people and ideals you choose to live by. There are many places where compromise is expected; loyalty is not amongst them.



‘Loyalty is the one thing that I have looked for in my life and I have found it here in Onoir. I feel I can count on everyone in our family and that to me makes life worth living. *grins*



Recite Defense: The ideal knight was sworn by oath to defend his liege lord and those who depended upon him. Seek always to defend your nation, your family, and those to whom you believe worthy of loyalty.



‘This one threw me at first, be the defensive is first thing that came to mind. Till I thought of I am a defender of the lands! Me Talleen a defender, that makes me proud. *smile*

recite Courage: Being a knight often means choosing the more difficult path, the personally expensive one. Be prepared to make personal sacrifices in service of the precepts and people you value. At the same time, a knight should seek wisdom to see that stupidity and courage are cousins. Courage also means taking the side of truth in all matters, rather than seeking the expedient lie. Seek the truth whenever possible, but remember to temper justice with mercy, or the pure truth can bring grief.



‘One day I know my courage will be tested but I can feel it in my heart and soul that I will come through it with flying colors and be able to protect me and others that need it.



Recite Faith: A knight must have faith in his beliefs, for faith roots him and gives hope against the despair that human failings create.



‘ I am a follower of Tilamaire, this choice was made for me at a young age. Tilamaire is the patron of music and dance. Tilamaire frequently travels in the guise of a wandering minstrel to seek out new musical talents. Upon finding one worthy of his time, he offers to stay and tutor them, greatly increasing their skill and often bestowing magical abilities. And this is what I pray for every night before I close my eyes. That he will bestow his magical abilities on me and my flute. *grins wide*



Recite Humility: Value first the contributions of others; do not boast of your own accomplishments, let others do this for you. Tell the deeds of others before your own, according them the renown rightfully earned through virtuous deeds. In this way the office of knighthood is well done and glorified, helping not only the gentle spoken of but also all who call themselves knights.

Recite Nobility: Seek great stature of character by holding to the virtues and duties of a knight, realizing that though the ideals cannot be reached, the quality of striving towards them ennobles the spirit, growing the character from dust towards the heavens. Nobility also has the tendency to influence others, offering a compelling example of what can be done in the service of rightness.



Recite Franchise: Seek to emulate everything I have spoken of as sincerely as possible, not for the reason of personal gain but because it is right. Do not restrict your exploration to a small world, but seek to infuse every aspect of your life with these qualities. Should you succeed in even a tiny measure then you will be well remembered for your quality and virtue.
