Order of the Elanthian Rose - Charter

Order of the Elanthian Rose

The purpose of the Order of the Elanthian Rose is to aide the officers of House Daingneach Onoir by providing services and resources, to help in support of town prosperity, and to assist citizens and organizations of Elanthia.

Our creed is "Service with Nobility" (see also "Noblesse Oblige")

Our symbol is the Elanthian Rose. The white flower indicates purity of purpose, honor without guile. The thorn represents sacrifice, a willingness to put others before ourselves.


Requirements:

Nobles of the Order of the Elanthian Rose must be active members or squires of House Daingneach Onoir in good stead (having attained enough training ranks to have earned the title Lord or Lady).


Induction of a qualified active member or squire of House Daingneach Onoir into the Order of the Elanthian Rose is by appointment only.

Selection of the head of the Order (known as High Guardian of the Rose) is performed by the Lord/Lady Paladin of House Daingneach Onoir with no objections by House Officers.


All other qualified nobles of the Order are appointed by the ruling High Guardian of the Rose and are referenced by title as Guardian of the Rose.


Those members and/or squires of House Daingneach Onoir who take the oath of the Order of the Elanthian Rose and are earning merits but are not yet appointed, are referenced by the title Cadet of the Rose.


Qualifications:

Qualification is accomplished by achieving a minimum of 100 merits of voluntary service, witnessed by the High Guardian, Lord/Lady Paladin, or Guardians of the Elanthian Rose.


Qualification is maintained by accumulating 100 merits a year of voluntary service, witnessed by the High Guardian, Lord/Lady Paladin, or Guardians of the Elanthian Rose.



Merits:

1 merit awarded for taking the oath of a Cadet of the Elanthian Rose, in service to the High Guardian and Guardians of the Order of the Elanthian Rose

1 merit awarded per day for providing services for the public (spellup, healing, foraging, skinning, etc.)

1 merit per 1000 silvers endowed to House Daingneach Onoir

5 merits awarded per attending a House Daingneach Onoir sponsored event.

5 merits awarded per attending a House Daingneach Onoir bimonthly meeting.

5 merits awarded per design submission of a House Daingneach Onoir item (e.g. song, poem, lecture, or meeting minutes to the library, approved prize closet item, gem cutter pattern, etc.)

10 merits awarded per organizing and hosting a public event (e.g. tree log cutting, town reconstruction, North Gate guard duty, etc.)

20 merits awarded per organizing and hosting a House Daingneach Onoir sponsored event.

50 merits awarded per serving as an active House Daingneach Onoir officer or Guild/Order leader.


Demerits:

-1 merit per incident of dishonorable conduct witnessed and testified by House Daingneach Onoir officers or members.

-5 merits per arrest or active warrant for violation of town laws.

-20 merits per misconduct of a House Daingneach Onoir member or squire (For example, homicide, abuse or stealing from house members)

-20 merits per repeat offender within a month (greater than 3 incidents of the same offense)

-50 merits per incident of willful misconduct (conduct in violation of Lord/Lady Paladin or High Guardian of the Rose warning)


Recognitions and Awards:

A member and/or squire of House Daingneach Onoir may take the oath of a Cadet of the Elanthian Rose, and is awarded his first merit and receives an Elanthian rose to wear as identification.

Induction into the Order as a Guardian of the Elanthian Rose is accomplished with a public ceremony and the awarding of a wearable pin identifying the individual with the Order.

The High Guardian of the Rose may deputize a Guardian of the Order as a candidate for successor, and/or to lead the Order during the absense of the High Guardian. In the event a High Guardian is not able to continue in leadership, the duputy will lead until a new High Guardian is appointed by the Lord/Lady Paladin."

From time to time, the High Guardian of the Rose or a deputy may award wearable flowers in recognition of outstanding service or noteworthy and exemplary behavior.


Oath:

I hereby pledge to faithfully exemplify the chivalric virtues of Nobility and Franchise, and to serve the officers and members of House Onoir, the citizens of my town, and all Elanthians in need.
