Kello's Ballad 'Our Homeland to Defend”
13th day of Imarasta 5112

Kello removes an inky deringo lute carved with a row of musical notes from in his cloth longcoat, he stands up and carefully checks
the strings of his lute, plucking them lightly and adjusting the tension until the sound is perfectly pitched.

Kello heartily says, "I hope ye like it, since I plan to belt it out more than once."
Kello cackles!
Kello Sings:

"'Twas a cold morn' in the Autumn
When we went upon our way
Took up arms, and kissed the ladies
And their eyes begged us to stay
But a land there is for winnin'
And the Kingdom we defend
So we pick up all our weapons
In the cold Jastatos wind"

Kello wraps his fingers around the neck of his lute and strikes an ecstatic chord.
Kello sings:

"Oh I am Zahv the tailor
Makin' clothing is my trade
And I never fought with any
And I never held a blade
But the enemy is comin'
And we'll meet them on the field
And though courage, it may leave me
I swear I'll never yield"

Kello executes an upward run of precise fingering, leading the tones upward in an inspirational spiral of sound.
Kello sings:

"And we'll march through the Autumn
Though the winds may howl and roar
And we'll fight to the last man
'Til we push them to the shore
And our children they are cryin'
But the Kingdom we defend
So we pick up all our weapons
In the cold Jastatos wind"

Kello sweeps the music upward in a swelling crescendo of vibrant harmony.
Kello sings:

"Oh I am Graw McGarren
I'm the smithy of this town
And I just spent all my earnin's
On my ladies weddin' gown
But the enemy is marching
We can see them 'cross the field
So we'll meet them in the heather
With a clash of sword and shield"
With a complex series of chords Kello bridges into a new key, taking the theme to a new level of exaltation.
Kello sings:

"And we'll march through the Autumn
Though the winds may howl and roar
And we'll fight to the last man
'Til we push them to the shore
And our boys they are all frightened
But the Kingdom we defend
So we'll meet them, and we'll battle
In the cold Jastatos wind"
Kello sweeps the music upward in a swelling crescendo of vibrant harmony.
Kello sings:

"I'm Yeven, I'm a minstrel
And I'm good wi' word and song
And I'll drink with any rover
And I'll sing the whole night long
But the enemy is chargin'
And the time for song is past
So I'll pray my lassie hears me
As I sing my very last"

Kello strums the lute's lower strings, adding a heart-trembling low rumble to the melody.
Kello sings:

"And we'll march through the Autumn
Though the winds may howl and roar
And we'll fight to the last man
'Til we push them to the shore
And our soldiers they are dyin'
But the Kingdom we defend
'Til the last of us has fallen
In the cold Jastatos wind"

Kello executes an upward run of precise fingering, leading the tones upward in an inspirational spiral of sounds
Kello sings:

"And their army lies in ruins
But I canna' say who lost
For we kept them from our homeland
But dear Gods what the cost!
Dear Gods what the cost!
But the enemy was marching
And the Kingdom we defend
So we gather up our dyin'
In the cold Jastatos wind"

Kello performs a series of vigorous strums that uplift the spirit in their powerful sound
Kello sings:

"And we'll march through the Autumn
Though the winds may howl and roar
And we'll fight to the last man
'Til we push them to the shore
hen the enemy comes callin'
'Tis our homeland we defend
Then we march back to our families
In the cold Jastatos wind "

Striking a final vibrant chord, Kello allows the song to fade into silence.
Sweeping his arm outward, Kello bows low in a grand fashion.
