Sorcerer of Bonespear

Truekillr

Volume II Issue 15 April 17th, 1999

Arwen taps an enruned ebony staff upon the ground, sending out little flashes of power each time it strikes.

*** Arwen is hushing everyone. ***

Arwen says, "Good evening and welcome."

Arwen says, "Let me start by thanking you all for coming this evening, I think you'll be pleased you have."

Arwen says, "During tonights tale, I do ask that you refrain from all spell casting..."

Arwen says, "ask your familiars to leave the room ...."

Arwen says, "Be courtious to our guest this evening, by not fidgiting and about too much and making unnecessary noise."

Arwen says, "At the conclusion, as always, we'll have time for your questions."

Arwen says, "Now, if I may...."

Arwen says, "Let me introduce to you our guest this evening...."

(Truekillr leans on his staff and pulls himself up.)

Arwen curtsies to Truekillr.

Truekillr stands up.

Truekillr bows to Arwen.

Truekillr leans on his staff.

Truekillr says, "If you all dont mind I think Ill take a seat again. These weary old bones dun make for the best standing. "

Truekillr smiles.

Truekillr leans on his staff.

Truekillr says, "Welcome my friends and thank you all for coming to witness this tale tonight. "

Truekillr says, "The tale I am about to tell is one yet unfinished; one full of danger; and one full of potential destruction."

Truekillr sighs.

Truekillr says, " The Story I tell tonight is the true happenings of the sorcerer Bonespear and his tower. "

Truekillr says, "The history behind the tower and it's sorcerous inhabitant is not well known. However, I will speak to you tonight about the current happenings and truths I've seen."

Truekillr says, "Approximately three months ago right before a meeting of the Council of the Gods I was wandering down the road to Solhaven to round up the folks residing there."

Truekillr says, "On my way there the ground began to shake and the air stir. The closer I came to Solhaven the greater the disturbance."

Truekillr says, "When I was about halfway there I saw a huge blast far to the south! The blast was enormous and the sound reached me seconds later causing me to cover my ears. A few seconds later..."

Truekillr exclaims, "...a strong wind blew by me ruffling my warmantle and the trees around me. I rushed down to Solhaven as quickly as I could!"

Truekillr shakes his head.

Truekillr sighs.

Truekillr says, "As I was stepping into Solhaven itself I looked to the direction of the blast and witnessed a large green blur flying about the ruins. It circled once and dove back down toward the tower."

Truekillr says, "As it dove, another explosion rocked the lands around it. This one was much smaller, but still caused the ground to shake a bit. As I watched, the green streak flew once around the tower and then off"
Mnute removes a fluffy white toy kitten from in his black silk vest.

Truekillr frowns.

Truekillr says, "I had a headache for a week."

Truekillr grumbles.

Truekillr exclaims, "We hurriedly gathered our party together and Eradica, Tsoran, Thomasl and myself all wandered to the tower. There where the hill once stood blocking our progress stood a climbable hill!"

Truekillr says, "We trudged our way up it after battling through dozens of monsters of the like I had never seen before! They later came to be known as Waern and Eidolon's. Along with Dybukk's and some others."

Truekillr says, "As our group wound around the tower's gardens and made our way to the doors, we were further accosted by Pyrothags as well as the denizens of the tower."

Truekillr mutters something about shards.

Truekillr scratches himself on the arm.

Truekillr says, "We finally reached the great doors to the tower and walked into it with a bit of trepidation."

Truekillr says, "As soon as we stepped foot into the tower the doors slammed shut! We couldn't open them and then the entire tower shook mightly and actually shifted to the east! The doors then flew open..."

Truekillr shivers.

Truekillr says, "We stood as all settled. Then the moaning started. A mere whisper on the wind reached us and invited us to our deaths. It was an eerie, unnatural wind. "

Truekillr says, "At first it spoke of nothing but death and destruction yet we trudged onward. We climbed the stairs to the "top" of the tower."

Truekillr says, "When we went through the trapdoor we came to the what was once the middle part of the tower yet was now open to the air above and served as the roof of this destroyed tower."

Truekillr says, "As soon as we stepped onto the roof the winds picked up and blew around us threatening to drop us off the side of the roof! They could only have been magically conjured for the strength contained."

Truekillr says, "More moaning and whispers reached our ears...this time of a different sort yet still seemingly malicious. This one also spoke of our death and destruction and imminent danger."

Truekillr says, "At first we all thought it spoke of our deaths to deter us from searching, but I now realize it was speaking the truth of our predicament in facing the "other"."

Truekillr says, "Yes. Two presences in the tower..."

Truekillr says, "It was only until I sat and pondered days afterward that I realized that this second voice was the voice of Bonespear: The Sorcerer who owned the tower."

Truekillr says, "We stayed our course and stood on the newly formed roof searching and taking in the sights. On the ground was a pentagram with a pentagram. Etched inside it was a circle. As we watched in horror ..."

Truekillr says, "... the pentagram slowly lost its glow of white light. As the last glimmer of light left the pentagram a bright blue light flared in the circle and was dark. I knew then that we had a problem."

Truekillr grumbles.

Truekillr says, "As most of you are aware, a pentagram is a sure sign of someone conjuring up demons. Why sorcerers would be so foolish to try is beyond me."

Truekillr shrugs.

Truekillr says, "This Pentagram lost its power as we stood and watched. The "Key" to the demons "collar", if you will, was broken and the demon runs free. "

Leogic asks, "The ones who battled the dragons and ghods in ages past?"

Truekillr says, "Nae. Those are Ur-Daemons. These are simple planar demons"

Truekillr says, "After we saw this there was an awful cackling and a rush of wind before the voices started again. This time the malicious voice was stronger and more determined."

Truekillr says, "Eradica immediately thought of a hidden passageway that he had found earlier and suggested we wander back down there as the room there was the only one in the entire tower not made of bone."

Truekillr says, "As we wandered downward the demon harried our every move, sending us visions of death awaiting, and sending more creatures after us. "

Truekillr says, "The second voice was strangely silent..."

Truekillr says, "We finally fought our way down there and it was quiet. Deathly quiet. The air didn't stir. Nothing happened."

Truekillr furrows his brow.

Truekillr says, "We anxiously walked down the passageway and into the room. While we walked in, on a table to the right lay a monstrous sword. Being the closest on that side I picked it up."

Truekillr says, "As I picked the blade up from the table, A Loud cackling wrung throughout room and an almost...thankful...sigh."

Truekillr rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Truekillr says, "Yes Thankful describes it"

Truekillr nods.

Truekillr says, "At the time nothing of this interchange clicked in my mind. It has since all fallen into place. "

Truekillr exclaims, "Another interesting thing happened when I picked the blade up. The blade held a mind of its own! Before I could even fathom what had happened the blade swung at two of my compatriots!"

Truekillr says, "Either I finally willed it to resting, or it chose to do so on its own. I believe the later. I have not been able to recreate that effect from the blade since then. "

Truekillr says, "I will not mix words with you all. I believe this blade to be one of the few and fabled Exorcism blades. You can see its current state. I am unsure if it is still worthy of its name...."

Truekillr removes a huge misshapen sword from in his black warmantle.

Truekillr says, "Please look but do not touch this blade. I do not know if it is silent because of lack of power...or because it wishes it."

(Truekillr reverently places the blade on his crossed knees.)

Truekillr drops a huge misshapen sword.

Truekillr points at a huge misshapen sword.

look sword

Warped by some incredible force, the blade is still usable, but badly disfigured. You also notice a small enchanter's mark.

Truekillr says, "Look upon what the destruction of the tower did to this fabled blade."

Truekillr says, "I have never seen one intact and have only heard of three being forged, but I am not as well read or traveled as others. Perhaps some other sages might enlighten us as I know some have more knowledg"

Truekillr asks, "Has everyone gotten a look?"

(Truekillr peers around the room.)

Truekillr picks up a huge misshapen sword.

Truekillr says, "Anyhow, I digress. We can all chat about the implications after the tale is done."

Truekillr smiles.

Truekillr says, "Bear with an old man."

Truekillr bows.

Truekillr says, "After the blade was found, we decided perhaps that we could nip the problem in the bud and utitlize the blade to retrap the demon. We wandered back to the dull pentagram."

Truekillr smirks.

Truekillr rolls his eyes.

Truekillr says, "Don't ask what we were thinking."

Truekillr says, "We could not utilize the blade at all and nothing out of the ordinary happened up there....except for the voice."

Truekillr exclaims, "Coming on a whisper in the wind a voice called to us. Soft and pleading. It spoke of the danger and it's mistake. Later did we realize this was the sorcerer of the tower!"

Truekillr says, "We decided it best to get to the safety of Solhaven and see if we could lore some information from the blade. "

Truekillr says, "On our way out of the tower poor Lord Thomasl fell to the evil creatures. We began dragging him out and got him outside the tower but were unable to drag down the hill. "

Truekillr says, "Tsoran then decided to Voln transport him back (as magic cannot be used in that area) with Eradica as I wandered about exploring. As soon as then left he visited again..."

Truekillr says, "He whispered a couple things in my ear and then went off in blink of light. Eradica came back to catch the last few. He whispered these words to me: "

Truekillr says, "I fear that when the demon returns my damnation will be complete." Then :"What remaining power I have is growing weak. I must regroup. We will speak again.""

Truekillr says, "With those final words, Eradica, myself and Galliphile saw a faint light twinkle above us and then wink out."

Truekillr says, "Recently some new happenings have...well...happened in the tower..."

Truekillr says, "About one week ago Shadowkatt Danay, Graeval and a few others were continuing with their normal daily hunts."

Truekillr says, "The demon came back and began to try to exert its power on the tower and those that hunt within it."

Truekillr says, "It conjured some of its own denizens and added a flurry of shadows to the group."

Truekillr says, "they bravely fought them off and the demon retreated beaten back not by their force, but by its own weakness."

Truekillr says, "That is when our Sorcerer came back and spoke with them. It asked for their help in ridding the lands of this demon. He promised not to practice necromancy any longer. This was new information to us all."

Truekillr says, "Finally he inquired about the blade and asked that someone seek it out as it was the ""

Truekillr says, "key" to his, and our, salvation."

Truekillr says, "I traveled down there 5 days ago with Shadowkatt after she found me and relayed the story. IT seems he was too weak to manifest himself again."

Truekillr says, "I believe that when the demon broke the sorcerer's hold that it expended phenomenal amounts of energy. "

Truekillr says, "I also believe that the sorcerer didn't simply destroy this demon for two reasons..."

Truekillr says, "One: his catalyst, namely this blade, was damaged and not at full strength."

Truekillr says, "Two: he would have had to expend the last of his lifeforce in doing so and wished not to. Instead he placed himself in some type of suspended animation. "

Truekillr says, "He was exceedingly weak both times he manifested himself. I believe it is because he still harries the loose demon where he can. The demon has tried to test the bounds of its strength and, as is seen by the party survivng the other night, it is weak."

Truekillr says, "Make no mistake. A demon loose on the lands could feasibly destroy us all before we could stop it. If we could stop it. Especially without the knowledge of exorcism that was lost so long ago"

Truekillr sighs.

Truekillr says, "So it stands with the Bonespear tower and so it shall be told for generations to come..."

Truekillr bows.

Truekillr leans on his staff.

Truekillr says, "If those generations survive"

Truekillr smiles.

[Much applause]

Truekillr says, "Im sure you all have questions so please ask"

Truekillr smiles.

Arwen asks, "Up to some questions, M'Lord?"

Tio asks, "have ye had a elemental detection done on the sword?"

Armaxis says, "The essence flows in chaotic patterns, Tio.."

Truekillr says, "This blade is still a rather powerful blade if you can consider it as a normal blade..."

Prata asks, "Truekillr, you mentioned seeing something green before you approached the tower...what was that?"

Truekillr says, "True enough. It is also the prime weapon clerics of Auld used to battle demons"

Truekillr says, "That was the essence of the demon Prata."

Truekillr smiles.

Prata asks, "They all have green essence?"

Truekillr says, "It was what caused the entire top half of the tower to, frankly, vaporize."

Truekillr asks, "That I am unsure of. I have but seen this one demon. Have you seen others?"

Lissuin asks, "I wasn't payin' much attention, ye may have already answered dis. How many enchants is de blade?"

Tonans asks, "Ya mentioned the demon summoned help, kin we expect that help to escape from the tower?"

Tonans says, "OR does the tower contain it fer the time being"

Truekillr says, "If the night that the demon broke free of its master is any indication yes, by all means."

Truekillr says, "Again, the demon seems to be weak as it stands. Perhaps we are lucky for the time being and it is using its power at its place of "birth""

Truekillr says, "When the sorcerer told us it was a demon, and confirmed our worst thought we tried everything in our mortal powers"

Truekillr says, "Clerics are working diligently at resirfacing the exorcism prayers"

Mikaal says, "I missed the first few minutes of the story."

Mikaal says, "I would just like to know where the tower is so I can avoid it."

Truekillr says, "It is westerly of Solhaven. The bonespear tower"

Truekillr smiles.

Truekillr says, "Only those of sufficient trainings can overcomet he fear to climb the hill"

Elkrum asks, "Ya mentioned tryin' to get some lore from the blade....Have ya had a Bard sing to it, yet?"

Truekillr says, "I have had the Lord Bard sing to it and it holds no tale for an elementalist to woo."

Truekillr says, "Perhaps it once did, but in its current state it seems it does not."

Elkrum says, "Hmm, strange, for somethin' as curious as that weapon."

Lissuin says, "Der be a enchanters mark."

Truekillr says, "Belive you me, Ive tried everything imaginable with this blade."

Lissuin asks, "I wasn't payin' much attention, ye may have already answered dis. How many enchants is de blade?"

Lissuin says, "Ye did have dat question asked."

Lissuin says, "but der is an enchanters mark"

Lissuin says, "Has to be some enchant"

Truekillr says, "The blade, if it can be thought of in a conventional sense such as that has the enchantment of a mithril blade, however it deals an unbelieveable amount of added damage. I can only imagine its true worth when it was whole. I somehow think the blade was never meant to be used in that sense though."

Truekillr says, "It has no weighting to increase the wounds no."

Gnashir says, "M'lord, ya said ya belive Bonespears body was in suspended animation, does that mean ya tink his body is still existant or that his spirit is the guardian"

Truekillr says, "That is a great question."

Truekillr says, "WIthin the tower there is a corpse of a body. It is strangely untouched by any of the damage in the tower. It lays peaceful with its hands crossed over its middle. Some have speculated this is the sorcerer. Others that it was the spouse of our sorcerer."
Truekillr shrugs.

Truekillr says, "A question we cannot answer definitively but Im sure we will find out soon enough."

Gnashir says, "Do ya belive that tha sorcerer is more closely bonded ta tha demon that merely as a summoner"

Truekillr says, "The sorcerer is a male, but I can never tell the gender from a mere skeleton"

Truekillr says, "All lore that I have read states it is so yes."

Truekillr says, "Any demon and its summoner. It is not a light task to tame a demon that wishes nothing more than to tear you limb from limb"

Truekillr smiles.

Elfstan asks, "I was wonderin', who'd ye 'ave sing ta it?"

Truekillr says, "Lord Krackenstar. The Lord bard."

Truekillr says, "If he cannae woo a song from the sword no one can in my mind."

Elfstan says, "'as anyone else asside from 'im tried 'oldin' it, may'ap it responds ta different folks..."

Grogg says, "Thank you Lord Truekillr Was a wonderful and enlighting story"

Truekillr says, "My pleasure. You'll be hearing more of it Im sure."

Phantazmagoriia asks, "I knows that the rift was partly closed with the deal with Terrate...this isn't linked is it?"

Truekillr says, "Nae I do not believe so."

Truekillr says, "The Rift is nothing akin to the planar demons"

Gnashir asks, "Ya belive this sword ta be a tool of exorcism, but why ya think it would attack yer friends when placed in yer hands?"

Truekillr says, "It is a Rift between our world and the Vvrael worlds. I believe that it is unrealted"

Truekillr asks, "If it is a fabled exorcism blade, it can be considered the "anti-soul blade". You've heard of those aye?"

Phantazmagoriia says, "that's what I was wondering, since the opening failed, if there might be someone trying to succeed in it via other means..."

Jerith asks, "if it was a exorcism blade...then would it be permablessed?"

Truekillr says, "true enough. They contain a living soul in them. I beleive the exorcism blades to be akin to that but only in purpose not in practice. There is/was no soul in this blade, but the power of many clerics and forgers."

Truekillr says, "Nae. Demons are most assuredly nothing akin to undead"

Truekillr says, "Blessings have nothing to do with a demon"

Armaxis says, "I wish to clarify something on the differences between demons.."

Armaxis says, "From the tomes I've read which explain the theories between demonic summoning, there are things called 'valences', which are quite simply...other dimensions, the Vvrael come from a drastically different valence then us, and this demon.."

Armaxis says, "One demon can be quite different then another."

Truekillr says, "Precisely."

Truekillr says, "Lady Arwen let me thank you for allowing me to tell the tale"

Arwen says, "Perhaps you'll join us again sometime, with more to this tale as it unfolds."

Truekillr moans.

Truekillr stands up.

Truekillr says, "oof."

(Truekillr bows stiff backed to the assembled.)

Truekillr says, "Thankee folks."

Truekillr taps a huge misshapen sword.

Truekillr put a huge misshapen sword in his black warmantle.

Truekillr says, "Tis heavy"

Truekillr says, "bouts a stone weight. 15 pounds"
