Aurla Laronus

Lady Aurla Laronus

Good day. My name is Lady Aurla Laronus. This is the story of my life. I was born of a prominent family far to the east. I escaped the bonds of an arranged marriage to Wehnimer's Landing. I at that time decided to train as a wizardress. Being scared and alone, and very confused I began to meet friends, most of who have passed on or gone on long journeys to far away lands. This was long before the big move to wider realms of the web. I was about 1 or 2 trains into my life when I met Raonid. We became very close. She was my best friend. We were constant companions. We got so very close and decided one day to be blood sisters. When I was 3, Raonid told me about a society and we headed out to find it and join. Somehow we made a wrong turn and got lost in an endless forest. We got seperated. Eventually I found my way out and slept right outside the forest. The next day, she found me and told me that she found the courtyard and had joined. It was that day that I began my path in Voln and have been dedicated to releasing undead ever since.

As the days went by she was getting older and older, but I wasnt able to grow as fast because I wasnt a very good hunter. I wasn't very strong and couldn't really hunt alone. We hung out at the crypt at the local graveyard. Raonid introduced me to a cleric named Vivivivia. I died alot when I was young and he frequently came to my rescue. I would recognise his name, but never figured he really knew me. One day, Raonid asked me if I would like to join her family. I was ecstatic! We went to see her father. Low and behold it was Vivivivia. He would take me on hunts and rescues. I admired him greatly as he was able to help people as I could not. Helping people in any way I can was instilled in me from my daddy. To this day I go out of my way to help those I can. I am very proud to call Vivivivia my father. He is a great man. Vivivivia met and married my mother Valkyva. I attended their wedding. It was wonderful. They had a shot-gun wedding and I held the blade. They were the happiest couple in the lands. They adopted together many children. We had a very large family of more than 36 daughters and 20 sons. I was 7 when I married young a man named Dyridian. Growing was slow in those early days and I rarely found enjoyment in hunting with him or anyone else, except my daddy. Dyridian was very protective of me. Although he tried hard, I felt stifled and eventually we grew apart. He had told me about a society that he was in, and wanted me to join. Something deep inside me resisted this. This caused much turmoil in my marriage, and by the time I was 10 I was divorced.

Up to this point, I wasn't really properly trained on the even the basic use of magic. I met a sorcerer by the name of Incertus. He took me under his wing and showed me the techniques of magic, scrolls and the like. He showed me how to be a magic user, and how to hunt. He would take me to Rivers Rest and we would spend weeks there hunting. Of course I would die and my daddy would run over to the Rest and give me life again. Over time I fell in love with Incertus. We were married when I was 10. We lived happily for serveral years. One day a call came in for Incertus and he was to venture away over the seas to a far away land on a mission of mercy. I was never to know the details of his journey. During his leave, I spent alot of time in the scribe shop. I met many new friends at that time. Azarkia, Fintster, Garthalemeau just to name a few. I also adopted my son Rog and Aiceman, who is currently on a journey in the middle eastern lands. I miss him very much. When Incertus returned, he was a different man. He was demanding and controlling and our marriage was over. This was a sad time in my life as the man that left I loved very much.

When the neighborhoods opened up, Fintster bought me my home. We searched for what seemed like days to find just the perfect house. We walked into the garden and I fell in love. Attoll was the first to buy it. I was the second. Fintster loved the dandelion, and claimed it as his own. Once we found the house we traveled near and far to get the perfect furnishings. Fintster helped me turn my house into a home that I will cherish for all my days. Every time I look at my home, I am reminded of the great ranger that stood by me through the good times and the hard times. He took me on hunting trips to Teras Isle where we terrorized kiramon on so many trips. He was one of my closest friends. Fintster helped me with enchanting as did Magelican and Aiceman. Because of Fintster, I am the proud owner of the centaur leathers. I had owned "She" for about a week when Fintster gave her to me. a 10x ceramonial bastard sword with a star emerald on the hilt . I returned the sword to Fintster and he found it a new home.

Azarkia was the next man to seek my hand in marriage. I was very happy with him and said yes. But again, things changed and I found myself hunting alone or with others as he was seldom in the lands. I met a young ranger in mares. He was having a really hard time trying to gain favor with Our Lady and achieve Master. I was a bit older than he and began making him sparkle with my spells and giving him blesses. We hunted alot together. Sweet Akono, I miss him so much. One of the proudest days I can remember was the day he walked into the Voln Monastary for the last time as a member to become a master. Akono, bless his heart, asked me to announce him. It was with great pride that I did.

One day a cleric grabbed and sancted with me on the ledge... thus started a very strange relationship and one that still makes me happy and sad at the same time. Tordane and I became very good friends. We hunted most of the time together. A couple friends of mine were getting married and the regular cleric could not get to the ceremony. I asked Tordane if he felt up to doing the wedding. He did, and about 2 weeks later early in the morning, these same 2 friends was out hunting and both died. I called on Tordane for the rescue, and shortly thereafter I felt that horrible feeling that the demonic took Tordane in their grasp. My screams were heard through out the lands. I felt I had destroyed him. I was totally distraut, and within seconds Lady Talsh and Lord Avantos was there with me. In my heart, I wanted to join him. The guilt was so heavy. But my friends held me fast. Lady Talsh and I went up to bring the new young Tordane home that day. I worked with Tordane for days, weeks and months. Finally he was grown again. Azarkia and I grew apart with his not being here and all, and we seperated. Tordane asked me to marry him, so I was engaged again, but he wound up marrying Daelynn. Although today Tordane and I are still good friends.

One day while sitting in town, I got a distinct feeling that My sister from the east. Her fate was to be the same as mine. So I sent to my sister, Psyryn who became an empath in the lands. She was healing at the gate there on teras one night, when an older cleric came in very sad and disheartened. The talk at the gate at the time was centered around marriage and unattached ladies. There was an older cleric there and with all senserity told the people at the gate if they knew of any ladies that was available to let him know. Psyryn in all her empathic wisdom whispered to him and told him of a lady wizardress, and that she could be found most evening in the wind tunnel with a very good friend Dafixer, but gave no name .If he really wanted to know who she was he would have to do the work himself. Lord Cynric asked me to marry him about 1 month after we met.

Cynric and I were together for close to 10 months. I thought I had finally found someone who loved me as I was. For 10 months it was nice, but Cynric felt it wasn’t mean to be so, so it wasn’t. After 10 months we broke up, and he told me to find a good man who has the time to be with me, that I deserve much more than he can give. Brianus was leaving on a long extended trip his uncle had planned for him, and at this time and charged me with watching over his wife while he was gone. Many times I stayed in the lands only for my duty and promise to him. I hate being alone, always have. There was noone that I could call my own, and I am very much a caretaker. During this time Galenblackbard, and Turgen became very good friends. I hunted alot with both of them. Galenblackbard started to come around less and less. I passed 95, Turgen, Psyryn and I made plans to make the final move to the rift. Psyryn was 92, I was 96 and Turgen was 95 we said our final good byes to the people of Teras Isle and went back home to the landing. We hit bonespear for some favor as mine and Turgen's had dropped, then headed to the rift. For over 5 months now we have been basicly insperatable, Turgen and I. Every minuet I’m away from him is harder than the last. He has told me that he can not have a relationship, and I can only wonder what Oleani has in mind for me. Perhaps I’m just a white rose with a great many thorns, beautiful to look at but deadly to hold.

Thus is the story of my life.
And it continues...
Lady Aurla

++++++++++++++++++++

These be the songs that Elaerina Cragsinger sang at the wedding o’ Lady Aurla and Lord Turgen. It tells the story o’ their first kiss, and o’ the wish at the wishing well that finally bound them together in true love. The two hae left our lands now, but such a love bears rememberin.

Long ago a centaur lass

Lost her heart I have heard tell

Tae a handsome pollywog lad

Do not laugh - she loved him well.

'Twas a quandry though, 'tis true

Though their love was ne'er slacking

For he'd nae legs nor even arms

And her swimming skills were lacking.

Said the centaur, "I have heard

That a kiss undoes a curse

E'en if a centaur prince you're not

Could our fate be any worse?"

"Oh, please do let us both find out!"

Cried the pollywog with fervor

Although the lad did truly fear

That he did not quite deserve her.

So as she knelt down in the mud

Up hoof and mane he dared

Toward his lofty goal, aye

The lips o' the centaur mare.

His goal he very soon did reach

Bent down as gentle as ye please

But then he tickled one fine hair

And the centaur lass did sneeze!

Through the air the froglet flew

From centaur nose into the sky!

But did our brave young lad give in?

Nae, he climbed back for another try!

And after only two more sneezes

With muddy landings for each one

Our pollywog did kiss her lips

His noble quest was finally done!

The air it shimmered once

And with a pop and a small splash

The centaur gal that he did love

Had become a gorgeous pollywog lass!

She spluttered, aye, but only once

Then they gasped, and then they giggled

And finally smiling in true love

Side by side, away they wiggled.

The moral tae this story

It be old, but it be true

Tae break the curse ye kiss the frog

Dun let the frog be kissing you!

The Wishing Well

By Elaerina Cragsinger

A coin drops from a single hand;

The wish it holds falls from above;

A maiden sighs but once, so softly;

Declares then her undying love.

Amongst the other wishes nestled;

In water dark and rimed with frost;

The maiden's coin glows bright long after;

Others have their luster lost.

Above the wishing well time passes;

Two souls respect and friendship learn;

And while above no words are spoken;

Below, in waters dark, hope burns.

And then one day two new coins fall;

To join the one wish faithfully held;

Two friends now turn and smile with joy;

Two wishes into one dream meld.

And as before, the maiden sighs;

While in the moonlight from above;

The water in the wishing well;

Reflects two hands entwined in love.
