Brinn Mithrandir
This is my interview with Sir Brinn Mithrandir, I hope it moves you, inspires you to do great things and learn from this great man.
You see Brinn Mithrandir the Warrior.
He appears to be a Giantman.
He appears to be advanced in years and average height. He has piercing steel grey eyes and fair skin. He has long, tied back coal black hair with grey at the temples. He has a clean-shaven face and broad shoulders.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing a tiny latched silver cigar case, a reinforced vultite aegis emblazoned with a pattern of crowns surrounding a silver gryphon on a field of crimson, some mithril gauntlets, a pair of golden spurs, a shimmering shadowy grey cape, some platinum plate mail, a mithril sheath, a light steel alloy shoulder sheath, a mithril banded sheath, some polished black leather boots, some black silk trousers, a black enameled bracer with a silver gryphon set in a ruby circle, a wide mithril band inset with a purple amethyst, a mithril mail satchel, a Warrior Guild member pin, a mithril pendant, a mithril bracelet, a shimmering glaesine orb, a gold-inlaid opal charm, a belt of incredibly fine silver mesh with a ruby buckle, a golden silk pouch, a ruby amulet, a gold ring, and a crimson-edged white diamond amulet.
You quietly ask, "What is your story Brinn?"
Brinn says, "My story? I'm not sure I have a story as such."
Brinn says, "I guess I could tell you how I got to where I am...."
You quietly say, "ok"
Brinn says, "I was born in the north, the son of farmers."
Brinn says, "I moved uot to seek adventure, though my parents didn't want me too."
You nod.
Brinn says, "I went back there a year or so later, and found my parents had died."
You quietly say, "I'm sorry for your loss."
Brinn says, "Unusual death, but I know no more of it, and I have looked into it, but have found nothing unusual."
Brinn says, "Other then the circumstances."
Brinn says, "Seems they froze to death in their home."
Brinn says, "This is very unusual for my people."
You nod to Brinn.
Brinn says, "We are accustomed to the cold."
Brinn says, "But no evidence of anything else was ever found."
Brinn says, "I have travelled back a few times to try to learn more, but have found nothing."
You quietly ask, "Wizard?"
Brinn says, "I then came to the Landing here to seek my fortune."
Brinn shrugs.
Brinn says, "Could be anything, but I have no evidence of any foul play."
You quietly say, "aye"
Brinn says, "So, I came here to the Landing, mostly a farmer, a bit a warrior, nothing of a knight in me."
You quietly say, "In my opinion everyone has a bit of the Knight in them."
Brinn says, "I fought to build my wealth, adventured, and gained some meager skills."
You nod to Brinn.
Brinn says, "But I found myself ill-prepared for the more dangerous of the wilds."
Brinn says, "Then I met a man who decided, for whatever reason, to help me."
You nod to Brinn.
Brinn says, "He taught me to fight, taught me to strike fearsome blows."
Brinn says, "His name was Sagan Necropolis."
You flash a wide grin.
Brinn says, "He taught me to kill, but not how to do battle honorably."
You nod to Brinn.
Brinn says, "I became fierce and effective. But my tactics were to hide in ambush and surprise my enemy."
Brinn says, "Then, as chance should have it, I met Berr."
Brinn says, "Berr invited me into House Arcane, as his study, his apprentice."
You quietly say, "Wow."
Brinn says, "In time, I became a full member of the house."
You quietly say, "That is truely an honor."
Brinn says, "Yes, I have been blessed."
You quietly say, "That is the most mysterious house to me."
Brinn says, "Then, one day, Maldon came into town, speaking to Berr and Metaboculous, among others, of a warrior's group, an Order."
Brinn says, "Berr immediately brought me in, and we formed the Order of the Silver Gryphon. Berr, then Heinrich, then Geoff, then myself."
Brinn says, "Many others have followed."
You nod.
Brinn says, "I was present at the discovery of the Abandonned Holding we now use as our base."
(Adalar quickly scribes many things down on parchment.)
Brinn says, "In the Order, I have learned higher purpose. I have learned to aspire to be more than simply an outlet for my weapons."
You quietly ask, "It's a tower yes?"
Brinn says, "In time, Berr and Heinrich left the Order."
Brinn says, "It is a tower, yes."
You nod.
Brinn says, "Geoff is still with the Order, but is inactive."
You nod.
Brinn says, "After we grew to a certain number, we decided that a pure democracy was not working. We argued too much, and suffered from a lack of leadership."
Brinn says, "At this time, we decided to elect a Leader of the Order."
Brinn says, "I was elected into this position, and held it for three years, a bit more maybe."
You nod.
Brinn says, "Early this year, I called new elections and stepped down as leader. I declined the nomination when I was nominated again."
Brinn says, "I did accept a position on the Council, though, to still give input on Order matters."
You quietly ask, "To much for you?"
Brinn says, "Well, I was not putting enough tie in to effectively do the job. Other matters weighed heavily upon me."
You nod to Brinn.
Brinn says, "I thought the Order might do better with a full time leader."
Brinn says, "However, I have gotten ahead of myself."
Brinn says, "While I was leader, I was also knighted by Baron Dunrith Malwind of Solhaven."
You quietly say, "Wow."
Brinn says, "I am now a knight of the Turamzyrrian Empire, under Malwind."
You nod to Brinn.
Brinn says, "This leads us to today, where I am happy to have served the Order that I love, and hope to continue to do so."
You nod.
Brinn says, "So, in a nutshell, that's my story."
Brinn says, "With lots of details left out."
You quietly say, "I have one more question."
Brinn says, "Yes"
You quietly ask, "When you and the Silver Gryphon's went after your dwarven friend, did ye ever once encounter Baron Hochstib? And why does he remain alive to this day?"
Brinn says, "We never encountered him directly, no. We have only seen his herald, Holswort. To our knowledge, he is alive today."
You nod.
You quietly say, "I do have one more thing to ask for the record."
Brinn says, "Of course."
You quietly ask, "What would you tell warriors out there if it could change them in anyway?"
Brinn asks, "Are you asking what I would advise warrior to do?"
You quietly say, "Yes"
You quietly say, "Okay let me better phrase the question."
You quietly ask, "What advice can you give to myself and other warriors out there who strive to become great men and women?"
Brinn says, "Well, I'd advise them to know themselves, know their goals and intentions, and to be true to those and pursue them. There are many paths a warrior may choose, some chivalrous, some martial, some political, and all places in between. This doesn't make any path more "right" or "better" in any way. It is best always to be true to your nature, and to seek to become the best there is at what you do."
Brinn says, "Spend time examining yourself, and know yourself. Do not accept definitions of yourself from outside."
