Drandar Cholensale

Lord Paladin Drandar

Many years ago a small town was discovered by magical portal far down the south western seacoast of Elanthia, and the People of Wehnimer's Landing called it the River's Rest. About that time, a young infant was left abandoned in an impoverished farming community in the Wilds of Wehnimer's. Cold and alone, he would have died for sure, had a drunken wandering monk not stumbled across him in his reverie from worshipping the Light God Cholen. The monk scooped up the lad, and named him Drandar Cholensale, in honor of his work and leige lord.

Drandar was raised in his earliest years to admire Cholen, wine, and frivolity, and to detest the undead. When he was yet barely trained in the ability to hold Eonake weapons, a massive invasion of undead struck the Landing, and Drandar was lost to the ether despite his many deeds granted by the Lady Lorminstra. In the subsequent timeless days and nights Drandar wandered the dream realm, guided by a white unicorn past lakes shimmering with the reflection of a myriad stars. "Where am I?" he asked aloud in the dream. "You are where my brother Phoen does not walk," came the sleepy reply of a grey clad man with bottomless eyes. "And who are you?" the confused lad replied. "I am hope, vision, night, and life. I am the purity of dreams and the master of riddles. I was once called Rean, and now am Ronan. It is my steed that led you by the waters all the time of your search," the figure whispered. Drandar said, "I am not searching for anything." The figure laughed slowly, and hummed the tune of an amused lullabye. "Then why are you here?" Drandar said, "I know not my lord." Again the laughter with the sparkle of starlight mixed within it. "Then it is direction and purpose you seek, child. Go. Return to the dreams that mortals walk. Ease their confusion, and give them hope. Remember the night, and keep it clean from those that would pollute it. I will walk with you and guide you all your days, and my steed will be your protector."

Drandar awoke, dead in the Wolve's Den of Aramour, were last he had fallen dragging the corpse of Lord Phaisling from before a creature's cloud. A silent prayer reached out to heaven, and a soft voice spoke to him... "Don't forget to stand up".... His skin warmed, his wounds healed, and breath returned to his body. "Yes, my Lord. I will do as you directed me." And Drandar rose. Soon he found the Shore of Dreams, and touching the font in prayer behind the waterfall there, he swore his life's existence to the celibate service of Ronan's dreams.

Drandar was the 19th cleric to be named a Legend, and he has met the Gods Ronan (twice), Lorminstra, Kai, Illoke and Andelas. He was present at t and the opening of the trails to Icemule, Pinefar, Aenatumgana and the rift. He dug the rubble opening in Spectral Miners, invented holy water crits, and was the second cleric to ever learn from repelling Soul Golems in Lukkos' Shrine on Teras Isle. At one time he was among the 30 eldest adventurer's in Elanthia, the 10 eldest clerics, and the 10 eldest humans. Today he lives a more sedate life, aiding where he may.

Today, Drandar has walked every room of the lands. Has raised thousands of adventurer's and beaten back a myriad creatures living and undead. He has picked up a rigorous schedule of absolutions and repentances, some of which involve a heavy leather bullwhip. Being celibate, but raised by a rather lurid monk of Cholen, he blushes readily when women flirt with him, and occasionally drinks more than is proper. His penance is mostly earned by his thought about women, and wine. He has past 100 trainings as a cleric, repels at great strength, and ambushes with a nasty heavy eonake mace.

For 65 trainings, he was a member of the House of the Rising Phoenix, where he founded the House Hunts program as part of a personal penance for an incident with a workshop key that had been given him directly by the late Lady Catrissa, builder and owner of the workshop. He then, penance due and honor restored, chose to move his belongings to House Sovyn, where his mentor of Ronan from youth - the Lady Gilwen - was an officer and guide.

Upon Aonghus' return to the lands, Drandar found a new friend and fellow spirit. They met by chance, or by divine guidance, in Kai's shrine in the midst of Aonghus' depression. Aonghus and he spoke of the dream to teach honor, and in the coming months Aonghus founded House Onoir. Upon Aonghus' sudden and savage death to a long disease, Drandar Cholensale, monk of Ronan, was raised to the post of Lord Paladin of House Onoir, where he serves today.

As you walk on Ronan's Way, in Liabo Circle, south of the Main Temple of Lorminstra in Wehnimer's landing, you see Drandar's Home.

[Drandar's Home]

A strong scent of old books fills this small room. Its mat-covered patterned mosaic tile floor supports a plain modwir bed and a large maple dining table, and the area is enclosed by walls of panelled maplewood. An onyx-inlaid goldstone fireplace sits at the far wall, above it hanging a symbol of Ronan tapestry. You also see a curtained stained glass window and a wooden door.
