Jacera

I was born on the 8th day of Lormesta, the year 5100. As many will recall, it was the day of the Huntress. All who were present regard my birth as noteworthy since it coincided with a rare family religious holiday, the epiphany of the Huntress. The day is regarded by the family as sacred, in memory of the event of The Huntress' own epiphany, a day we have honored ever since our family's recorded history. As family legend tells, the family was worshipping at the Shrine of the Huntress on the eve of my birth. They were suddenly attacked by a myriad of spider, scorpion, and other arachnid forces. The lengthy battle lasted well into the early morning hours, and, for a while, tested our family's strength and conviction for survival. However, victory was to belong to them that morning, as the Arachne hoard finally abated. After the successful defense of the Shrine, A giant eagle, guided by a woman of surpassing beauty dressed in silver chain-mail, clutching a wicker basket, descended from the sky. Without ever truly landing, she gently placed the basket on the ground before the shrine. It was understood in the hearts of all the members of my family that they were to care for its contents, and thus, I was to become one with their clan. Legend has it that one day I will once again be commanded to defend the Honor and Shrine of the Huntress.
My early years have been dedicated to education, both my own, and when possible, that of my peers. Education is the heart of life's mysteries. No one can lay claim to omniscience, one can always learn something new. These days, people seek knowledge, not wisdom. Knowledge is of the past, wisdom is of the future. My personal belief is that the great teachings unanimously emphasize that all the peace, wisdom, and joy in the universe are already within us; we don't have to gain, develop, or attain them. We're like a child standing in he Shrine of the Huntress with her eyes shut tight. We don't need to imagine trees, flowers, deer, birds, and sky; we merely need to open our eyes and realize what is already here, who we really are, as soon as we quit pretending we're small, insignificant, or unholy. Only when we can truly understand this can we achieve freedom; freedom from corruption and pollution. Many times this wisdom is imparted in our dreams. We all tend to believe and accept those ethereal and improbable truths much more easily when we dream.
My current endeavor's include chronicling my work within Lord Fasthr's great society of Voln, where I have reached my ninth step. I am also beginning my studies in Giantkin history. My future plans are to chronicle the history of The Huntress. Of course, as my father used to say, let us not look back in anger or forward in fear, but around in awareness, and thusly, keep your options open and be ready to alter your agenda as necessary.
