Rawen

Rawen smiles at you, embarrassment clearly evident in her light blue eyes as she seats herself on the roof of the East River Tower.
"You would know more about this human rogue, would you?" Absently, she tucks a strand of her unkempt brown hair behind her ear and gazes wistfully out over the river. "When I hear of the trials my friends have had to live through, I can not help but feel blessed that my childhood was, for the most part, rather dull." Her voice lowers, as her eyes seem to turn inward.
"On the day I was born, no bells rang and there was no celebration. I was just another mouth for my grandparents to feed. They had been supporting my mother on their meager pickings as farmers ever since she showed up on their doorstep very much in the family way. My father, she said, had been a whim and he disappeared long before she knew she was pregnant.
My grandparents, being the people they were, allowed her to stay. And she did stay until I was a year old, then she felt the need to return to town and to a life with more action. She left me there with my grandparents. About two years later, she returned. Once again, she brought a bundle of joy. This time, however, she did not survive the birth. My grandparents told me that my brother lived for only a month after her, then he followed her in death. They raised me, but that is all they did. When my mother brought me into the world without a father, I was stained in their eyes. I was a child that needed to be taken care of, that is all. I stayed with them and worked for them until their deaths."
She suddenly focuses on you and smiles, "Then, I too, felt the call of a life more dynamic. So I headed to town.
I remember the awe I felt at the gate to the Landing. All those people. Everyone seemed to have a purpose, coming and going. I just watched for a while. I saw the diversity of the people, from tall Giantkin to the smallest of the Halflings. There were wizards, warriors and healers. But no one spoke to me or even acknowledged I was there. Finally, toward evening, I entered town.
It was just the same in town. People coming and going, stopping to talk to each other for a moment, then moving on. I went to an Inn, the Raging Thrak the first night. The next day, I began exploring town.
Towards evening, I was starting to feel rather discouraged, as no one seemed to have the time to help me. I wandered into this little courtyard with a fountain. I wasn’t really paying attention, being too busy rethinking my decision to come to town, when I heard someone speaking and a bunch of flowers appeared at my feet."
Chuckling quietly at herself, Rawen continues, "I looked up and saw this Elven man standing there. I asked "Are these for me?" I was pleased that someone was being nice to me. He chuckled and said they were if I could give him something called mana. I must have looked very confused. He smiled and asked if I was new."
Rawen smiles brightly at you, her eyes twinkling, "That was the beginning of my life of adventure. The man, Lord Mikalmas D'Chav'ka, later became my father. He has taught me all I know of courtesy and honor and pointed me down what I believe is the right path in my life.
Father introduced me to Voln work and is guided me through the steps necessary to master it.
Since I have come to town, I have discovered a love for hearing tales and songs. It is through this that I was introduced to Leya. Her story appealed to me and I searched for information on the other gods. She was the only one who touched my soul.
I began a search for her shrine and for others who follow her. After many weeks, I finally found one of her followers, Lady Haelra. She took me to the shrine and told me more of Leya’s story, she also told me of the Amazons. The Amazons are a sisterhood devoted to the service of Leya and devoted to her teachings, among which are to respect your fellow man, to fight with strength and courage, to have mercy on those weaker than yourself and to know yourself as well as you can. I asked to be initiated into the Amazons and after Lady Haelra had determined that I was intent on service to Leya, I was introduced to the other Amazons of her Silver Fox hut. They agreed to allow me to be initiated. Haelra was kind enough to mentor me herself and from her I learned of mercy and strength. She became almost the mother I had always wanted.
It was shortly after that that I became interested in joining a house. I looked for one that I could have an active part in and that made a difference. I talked with members of the various houses and searched out information on as many as appealed to me. Finally, I discovered a house whose members put forth the goal of spreading honor throughout the lands. My father calls it the old ways, helping those less fortunate, respecting all people’s and living a life that others can look up to. This house is House Onoir and I joined as a squire to Lady Taliria."
Smiling softly, Rawen looks once again across the river and places her hand on a dagger pendent. "Upon reaching my 20th training, many things began to happen. I had met the man with whom I will share the rest of my life with and my father gave his blessing, I was accepted as a full member of House Onoir and I stopped being an little sister to the Tribe and was accepted as a full Amazon.
My father also gave me my majority in a beautiful ceremony in which I was given the responsibilities to carry on the name of the D’Chav’ka family. To protect all it’s members and to fight with all my abilities against the dark forces which attempt to conquer Elanthia. I accepted these with gratitude and pride. It was also at this time that my father adopted Paladyr Rydalap. He had been my friend since I was very young.
Shortly after reaching my majority, odd things began happening in the crypt in Icemule. My family as a whole decided to investigate. While there, a close friend of mine, Nofret Hrist, began having visions of stone halls and blood. After speaking with several about them, we decided that it might be Meyno and a visitation by a water sprite confirmed it for us.” Rawen looks up, a small smile on her face. “But that is a story for another time. After that, life went on as normal, hunting with friends, sharing stories and persuing my work in Voln.
I have since met my life partner in the person of Lord Tebon , Lord Paladin of Onoir. I am a paladin of Onoir and continue my work to make the world around me the best it can be.
