Severasse Hawggweiler

Born in a Faendryl Household with a Dhe’nar mother, Severasse fate was as bright as the caverns of Rhoska-Tor. Being a Palestra Officer, Severasse’s father wanted him to follow his family’s footsteps and join the Palestra Warriors.

As is tradition Palestra Warriors begin their training at the age of 5. Lacking strength and endurance, Severasse was weaker than his peers by leaps and bounds. Upon seeing this, Severasse’s father grew concerned. He began giving Severasse extra training outside of his normal duties in an attempt to make him stronger. It would seem that his efforts were unfruitful.

After many years of misery, anguish, and the constant belittlement of his masters and peers, the inevitable  transpired. Young Severasse committed the act of ultimate shame. An act that is unforgivable by Pasestras, he let his Master be felled by a Demon. The weak and tired Severasse did the best that he could, but after the first strike, Severasse was thrown across the room and was immediately knocked unconscious. Young Severasse was left to languish, helpless, and unable to protect his master from falling. It didn’t take long for Severasse’s Father to get word of his son’s failure and banished him from his household. Severasse was sent out to fend for himself in the bitter lands of Elanthia.

As Severasse stood at the threshold of his family’s home his mother spoke the words no mother should tell her child.

“Not only have you brought shame on your father, but now you have made my standing and way of life in question. I wish I never gave birth to something as weak and pathetic  as you. I hope I never see you again.”

These words are still burning in his mind today.

Broken hearted, tired, and hungry, Severasse left Rhoska-Tor in hopes of finding a new home, and a new life. It would seem that both would be easily obtained, yet happiness would continue to escape him.

Fate still had more left to give Young Severasse. Half starved, Severasse was traveling the wastes, when he was mugged, beaten, and left for dead by bandit thugs. Without food, goods, or even a stick to fend off the ravage animals it looked as if Young Severasse would find a grave, before he found a home. After several days of being unconscious, Severasse woke up dazed and bewildered; his wounds bandaged and his body warmed by a campfire. This would be his first encounter of races other than his own.

For 1 month, Severasse traveled with Tharian the leader of the Traveling Forest Gnome Merchant Group. Tharian was very accepting to all races. As he would say, “It does not matter the colour of thy skin, only the colour of thy silvers.” One day,  while Severasse was helping Tharian pack up the cart, misfortune befell poor Severasse yet again. Bandits raided the Merchant Camp. In the middle of the chaos, Severasse ran. Scared and worried Severasse came back, to another horror, and another turning stone in his life.

It didn’t take Severasse long to find Tharian’s bleeding body. Tharian was dying and dying quickly. With his last breath, Tharian grasped Seveasse’s trembling hand. He leaned forward and whispered softly to Severasse:

“D-d-d-do not blame yourself k-k-kido, you could not have stopped this. My only hope is that you can make it to W-w-w-ehnimer’s L-l-l-landi-”

At this moment Severasse felt Tharian’s hand go limp and he saw the flame within his eyes dim, then fade, leaving only darkness. Young Severasse never got to hear Tharian’s final words. After taking a half day to bury Tharian and the others in the Merchant group and with nowhere to go; Severasse took upon his shoulders the task of making it to Wehnimer.

It took young Severasse  many years of dodging ambushes and avoiding people, but young Severasse finally made it to Wehnimer’s Landing at the age of 12. The malnourished Severasse, was in shock at the marvel that is Wehnimer. A bustling town filled with laughter and with food; filled with song and with dance. It would seem that all races from across the lands called Wehnimer home. Amongst all the joy and cheer, a dark cloud hung over the bustling streets, the large towers and the city walls. Unfortunately for the people of Wehnimer, most still remembered Faendryl’s atrocious sin towards the end of the Undead War; for them, it was more than just a distantent memory.

The disowned boy tried to get a job as a courier, but being 12 and being a hated Dark Elf, he could not. Other jobs were either too hard, or to advance for him to even attempt. Other children his age pointed, laughed and again made Young Severasse the target of bullying; but by this point Severasse had grown numb.

On a particular cloudy day, the other children’s bullying got out of hand, and turned violent. Outnumbered and out matched, Severasse was quickly overwhelmed and beaten. After few seconds of being kicked and stomped on, Severasse was about to give up all hope until distant shouts scared the children away.

Two beautiful Half-Elf Women shown up to rescue young Severasse. Denessia, the younger of the two, started transferring Severasse’s wounds unto herself. In the matter of moments, she was completely healed. Terrified yet astonished, young Severasse shied away from his saviors, still untrusting of others. Cossannie, the older Elf, said

“O’come on little one, get yer butt over here and at least tell us how it started? We don’t bite....Too hard.”

Not wanting to anger his saviors, Severasse told the two Half-Elves his story and they, wanting to help a starving child, took Severasse to not only get food, but clothing as well.

After a warm meal and his tattered rags replaced, Severasse felt happiness. A feeling that had escaped him for so long that he barely remembered it and could not contain it. Overwhelmed,  he started to cry. Cosannie, being the kind hearted soul she is, knelt down and asked Severasse what was wrong and hugged him. For the first time in his life, he felt something more. Beyond happiness, beyond peace. It was at this moment, Young Severasse, after years of tormoral and despair, felt love. He hugged Cosannie back with all the strength he could muster.

Telling Cosannie everything that happened, Cosannie felt sympathy for the poor child and young Severasse shocked her by saying, “I wish I had a mother like you.” As fate would have it,  Cosannie decided to adopt Severasse, making him a Hawggweiler.

After years of being the Son of Cosannie, Severasse lived a happy life. Wanting to take after his new mother, Severasse began the arts of Sorcery. Young Severasse finally found his calling. He may not be able to swing a blade very well, but he learned quickly how to cast spells, and learned how to harness his new found gifts. He even had someone to look up to.

Severasse, became a squire of  House Daingneach Onoir. Nowadays, it is a rare sight to see Severasse without a grin upon his face. It is even rarer to hear the stories of his past. For, Severasses feels that people should judge him by his actions rather than the circumstances that made him. Which leads his Giant-man Cleric Mentor, Elbromo, to lightly tease him by saying, “It must be nice to be a rich kid.” from time and again. To which Severasse only smiles in agreement. With his Palestra background as a kid, Severasse has a bad habit of snapping to attention and saluting his beloved Mentor as he comes and goes.

Since the day Severasse was brought into the halls of House Daingneach Onoir, he has been honored to serve the people of Wehnimer’s Landing and to stand for that which founded Onoir. He will continue to join his brothers and sisters in the fight against evil.  He will continue to be the shield that lies between the citizens of Wehnimer Landing and it’s invaders. He will continue to release the undead from their torment. His sole wish is to have an impact on someone else’s life like his Mother did for him.
